Residents started the day with armchair exercises and some lively tunnel ball, with Ina and Pat taking the wins! 🎯

To mark National Write a Letter Day, we reminisced about letter-writing traditions, had fun composing a light-hearted letter together, and then used pretty cards and envelopes to write to friends and family. 💌

After lunch, some of the walking group enjoyed the sunshine and fresh air, while others relaxed with jigsaw puzzles or TV. Meanwhile, our talented Alice proudly showed off the beautiful blankets she has been creating over the past few months with her knitting needles. 🧶💜

On Saturday, Oaklands celebrated National Eating Outdoors and Beach Day! 🏖️

Although the weather kept us indoors, residents enjoyed a delicious indoor picnic while reminiscing about seaside trips, favourite picnic foods, and classic beach games.

Afterward, we relaxed with Mamma Mia 2 – bringing plenty of sunshine, sea, and beaches to us on screen! 🎬☀️🌊

Yesterday, some of our residents enjoyed a wonderful surprise boat trip on the Alison MacGregor. Setting off from Hythe Marina, they cruised across Southampton Water and up the River Itchen, spotting cruise liners, cargo ships, and even a giant car transporter! Along the way, they also admired swans, cormorants, ducks, and seagulls. 🦢 🚤

It was an extra special day for Barbara, who was delighted to see her family crewing on the boat. With drinks and biscuits to keep warm, everyone stayed cosy under the canopy when the rain rolled in, before heading back to Hythe. A truly memorable trip for all! 💜

Today at Oaklands we celebrated International Dog Day! Residents reminisced about their loyal four-legged friends, shared funny stories, and tested their knowledge with a ‘guess the breed’ game.🐾

After lunch, some enjoyed a sunny stroll with the Walking Club, while others relaxed with their favourite soaps. Amy’s Book Club met over a cuppa, with Helen reading from Monty Don’s Nigel, a heartfelt story about his Labrador.

The residents made the most of Bank Holiday Monday with a tropical twist! They enjoyed a fun photoshoot wearing colourful Hawaiian flower necklaces before testing their holiday knowledge with a true-or-false quiz. Later, everyone was captivated by a David Attenborough documentary, taking a dive into the ocean to discover tropical wildlife. 🌴🌸

In the afternoon, the sunshine was too good to resist, so Oaklands Walking Club set off for a glorious stroll under the clearest blue skies. A fabulous Bank Holiday all round! ☀️🌊
