Did you know infant feeding has an environmental impact?

Research from The Lancet highlights that formula feeding contributes to greenhouse gas emissions, largely due to dairy production, as well as manufacturing, transport, and packaging. It also requires ongoing water use for preparation and sterilising equipment, and creates waste from tins, plastics, and feeding supplies.

Breastfeeding, by contrast, is a natural, renewable food source with no packaging, transport, or waste.

But this conversation isn’t about guilt or blame.

The same research makes it clear that many families face significant barriers to breastfeeding—lack of support, inconsistent advice, and societal pressures all play a role.

Women don’t fail breastfeeding.
Too often, they’re not given the support they deserve.

If we want better outcomes for families and the planet, we need to focus on skilled, compassionate, evidence-based support.

Today my two naughty chihuahuas bumped into a whole group of chihuahuas on their walk… and instead of chaos, it was strangely calm. Why?
Because they all understood each other’s barking.

It made me think about our breastfeeding group.
A room full of mums who get it.

The good days, the hard days, the feeding, the tears, the wins.

Sometimes the biggest support is simply being around people who understand your “bark”.

We know that sometimes breastfeeding support needs more time and privacy.

That’s why we’ve introduced two bookable 1:1 sessions, alongside our group sessions at Nature’s Nook.

They’re discounted to make support accessible for all families — because every parent deserves guidance and reassurance.

A small update to our breastfeeding sessions

Our group has grown so much (thank you!!). To make sure we can continue offering high-quality support, Sarah and I are making a small change to the format.

Two bookable 1:1 appointments each session
• 30 minutes
• Private space
• For more complex or sensitive feeding support
• Suggested donation £30

This is a heavily discounted rate to help cover venue hire, materials and childcare. We do not make a profit from these sessions.

The drop-in group will run as usual
Suggested donation £10 to help cover venue costs, training and equipment like SNS tubes.

You can now book both the drop-in and 1:1 sessions online via my website:

And as always — no one will ever be turned away if cost is a barrier. Please just speak to us.

Today we celebrate International Board Certified Lactation Consultants across the world — those working quietly behind the scenes, in hospitals, clinics, homes and community spaces, supporting families through one of the most vulnerable and powerful seasons of life.

Being an IBCLC isn’t just about positioning and milk transfer (although we love a good latch tweak).

It’s about listening.

Holding space.

Understanding physiology.

Noticing tension.

Supporting supply.

Protecting breastfeeding.

And walking alongside families when feeding feels hard.

In my community work, I see every day how much feeding is about more than milk. It’s about confidence, recovery, sleep deprivation, birth stories, identity shifts, and finding your village.

I’m so proud to be part of a profession grounded in evidence, compassion and advocacy — and I’m always learning, always growing, always striving to offer better, more accessible support.

To every family who has trusted me — thank you.
And to my fellow IBCLCs — your work matters more than you know.
