🟣2 places to use a massage ball that can help you to manage lower back pain🟣

These are two areas that if I have pain in my lower back, I like to use my massage ball to help deal with the discomfort.

💥 QL muscle- just to th side of the spine
💥 Glutes

for me, this helps quite a lot and allows me to manage my pain until I can see someone to help further.

Give them a go and let me know how you get on in the comments below 👇🏼

🟣3 bits of rehab kit that I wouldn’t be without🟣

1️⃣ a massage ball
2️⃣ resistance bands
3️⃣ a foam roller

I use these all the time for different parts of my body for both injury prevention and rehab.

Check back soon to see how I use these.

🟣3 signs your lower back pain could be more serious 🟣

You want to look out for-
⚡️ shooting pain down both legs
☁️ numbness around the bottom, the ge****ls, the inner
💦 not being able to go for a wee

If you get any of these symptoms, you want to seek advice straight away. NHS111 is always a good place to start.

Don’t hesitate, just get it done. You may thank me later.

🟣3 things people do that can make their lower back pain worse🟣

These are the 3 things I see all the time that people do that makes their lower back pain worse.
I don’t mean that every person is doing all 3 of these things, I mean that most people I treat for lower back pain are doing 1 of these things (ok yes some do do more than one).

1️⃣ Sitting in ‘comfortable’ positions so things like slumping, leaning to one side and tucking the legs up underneath themselves.
2️⃣ Sleeping on their front.
3️⃣ Not moving much during the day.

What to do about it-
✅ Sit up straight (even on the sofa!), tuck a cushion in the small of the back for extra support.
✅ Lie on the side with a pillow between the knees or lie on the back with a pillow under the knees.
✅ Get up and have a stretch or a short walk every 30-60minutes. Set yourself a reminder if you need to!

Try them out and let me know how you get on.

💜My one top tip to help GOLFERS prevent lower back pain💜

When you are warming up ready for your round of golf (you are warming up aren’t you?!) do some practice swings the other way!

When playing golf you only ever drive the ball one way, never the other way. Over time the body will stop rotating the other way so that movement becomes stiffer. Which in turn can potentially lead to pain because stiff joints cannot cope with the stress of everyday life as well as mobile joints and so can more easily become injured.

It doesn’t take long to do some practice warm up swings in the other direction and this will help to keep you moving freely to your offside and lessen the chance of pain due to stiffness.

🚨Most people with lower back pain make this one BIG mistake!🚨

Not moving!
This is the worst thing you can do once the initial acute pain has decreased. If you keep still the pain is likely to last longer and you just became more fixed in place.
The best thing you can do is to have a little walk.
Try it and let me know how you get on 😀
