Lucy is also part of the coaching national team for the England Kickboxing Squad and has coached many others the the level of World Champion. It was her martial art / sport, that led her to Osteopathy, as this was her chosen method of treatment when injuries occurred. Since the age of 14, it was Lucy’s aim to train to be an Osteopath, as she felt the combined experience from years of training would mesh well with this profession, and likewise the knowledge gained from her studies, would enhance her training and coaching. This experience in Lucy’s martial art, in training, teaching and coaching has resulted in a particular interest in sports injuries, injury prevention and rehabilitation. She has been working in the Thanet area since qualifying and over that time has gained experience helping people deal with a variety of conditions. Keeping people active during the recovery process, has always been an important objective.

Osteopathy is a hands-on therapy that uses a gentle, non-invasive approach to help your body heal itself. Here are some of the benefits of osteopathy:

1. Pain relief: Osteopathy can help relieve pain in different parts of your body, including the back, neck, shoulders, and joints. By identifying the root cause of your pain and using various techniques to alleviate it, osteopathy can help you feel better and move more freely.

2. Improved mobility and flexibility: By targeting areas of stiffness or tension in your body, osteopathy can help improve your range of motion and flexibility. This can be especially beneficial for athletes, dancers, or anyone who wants to move more comfortably.

3. Better posture and alignment: Osteopathy can help improve your posture and alignment by addressing any imbalances or asymmetries in your body. This can reduce strain on your muscles and joints, and help you feel more balanced and grounded.

4. Stress reduction: Osteopathy can also help reduce stress and promote relaxation. By releasing tension in your body, you may feel more calm, centered, and able to cope with the challenges of daily life.

5. Whole-body approach: Unlike some other forms of therapy that focus only on specific symptoms or areas of the body, osteopathy takes a whole-body approach. By looking at the body as a whole, an osteopath can identify and address underlying issues that may be contributing to your symptoms.

Today I received an email confirming, the government legislation allows the public to continue to access medical services, including osteopathic services.

I’m pleased to say I will therefore be continuing practicing during this period.

What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a system of complementary medicine, involving the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of medical disorders, through the manipulation and massage, of the musculoskeletal system. Osteopathy is based on the principle that the wellbeing of an individual, depends on the systems of the body functioning synergistically.
Osteopaths use touch, physical manipulation, cranial techniques, stretching and massage to increase the mobility of joints, to relieve muscle tension, to enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues, and to help the body’s own healing mechanisms.
As part of the treatment plan advice may be given on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms recurring.
