🤔 Should You Take a Multivitamin? - Its a multi million pound industry💷💷

You might benefit if you:
Don’t eat a balanced diet
Follow a restrictive diet (vegan, keto)
Are pregnant, over 50, or have certain health issues

You might not need one if:
You eat well and are generally healthy
You already take specific supplements (like vitamin D)

💡 Tips:
Food first, supplements second
Avoid megadoses
Talk to your doctor if unsure

Bottom line: Multivitamins can help fill gaps — but they’re not one-size-fits-all. Archway Health & Wellbeing

🍎 An Apple a Day… Still Holds Up! 💯

Today is Apple Day. Apple Day, 21 October, was launched in 1990 by Common Ground, a charity based in Dorset, England.

✅ Natural Energy Boost – A great pre-workout snack
✅ Supports Weight Management – Low in calories, high in nutrients
✅ Good for Your Heart – Helps lower blood pressure & cholesterol

💪 Benefits of Resistance Bands

Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned athlete, resistance bands are a powerful, versatile tool to level up your workouts — without heavy equipment.

✅ Why Use Resistance Bands?
1. Portable & Lightweight
Take them anywhere — gym, home, park, or while traveling. No excuses!
2. Full-Body Workouts
Target arms, legs, glutes, core, and more with just one band.
3. Joint-Friendly
Gentler on joints compared to free weights, making them ideal for injury rehab or low-impact training.
4. Great for All Levels
From beginners to pros — resistance comes in different levels (light to heavy).
5. Improve Strength & Flexibility
Not just for strength — great for mobility work, stretching, and activation exercises.
6. Budget-Friendly
Way cheaper than buying a full set of dumbbells or machines.

🔥 Bonus:

They’re especially great for glute activation, warm-ups, and home workouts with minimal space.
Resistance bands may look simple — but don’t underestimate their power. One band, endless gains. 💥 Archway Health & Wellbeing

🤔 What Are Food Intolerances?

Food intolerances happen when your body has trouble digesting certain foods. Unlike allergies, they don’t involve the immune system — but they can still cause uncomfortable symptoms.

⚠️ Common Symptoms:
Bloating
Gas
Stomach pain
Diarrhoea or constipation
Headaches
Fatigue

🥛 Common Triggers:
Lactose (in dairy)
Gluten (in wheat, barley, rye)
Fructose (in some fruits & sweeteners)
Food additives (like MSG or artificial sweeteners)

🧪 How to Know if You Have One:

Try an elimination diet or keep a food journal
Get tested by a healthcare provider (for things like lactose intolerance)

✅ What to Do:
Avoid trigger foods
Try alternatives (like almond milk or gluten-free products)
Read labels carefully

💡 Managing a food intolerance is all about listening to your body and making smart swaps — no need to suffer through symptoms! Health & Wellbeing

🏃‍♂️ Running with a Cold: Should You or Shouldn’t You?

Winter colds are on the way so if you have got the sniffles but still want to run? Here's the quick rule:

🔹 Above the neck? You’re likely good to go.
(runny nose, sore throat, sneezing = light jog OK)

🔸 Below the neck? Skip it.
(fever, chest congestion, fatigue, body aches = rest up)

✅ If you do run:

Keep it easy (no sprints or long runs)

Stay hydrated

Stop if you feel worse

❌ Don’t run with a fever, deep cough, or full-body fatigue — it can make things worse and delay recovery.

🏁 Bottom line: Listen to your body. Rest isn’t weakness — it’s smart training. Archway Health & Wellbeing

🏋️‍♂️ Let’s Talk Sugar 🍬

Friday 3rd of October is national no sugar day 😁

You’re training hard, meal prepping, tracking macros… but if sugar is still sneaking into your diet, it could be sabotaging your progress. 😤

Here’s how excess sugar can hurt your fitness goals:

❌ Slows fat loss – Insulin spikes from sugar can block fat burning
❌ Kills energy levels – After the sugar rush comes the crash
❌ Wrecks recovery – Inflammation from sugar slows down muscle repair
❌ Increases cravings – Leading to poor food choices and overeating
❌ Ages your body – Including your joints, skin, and even organs

Even “healthy” energy bars and protein shakes can be loaded with added sugars. 🧐 Read those labels and aim for whole, nutrient-dense fuel.

💡 Pro tip: Opt for complex carbs like oats, sweet potatoes, and fruit around your workouts — your body knows how to use those efficiently.

Train smart. Eat smarter. Archway Health & Wellbeing 💪

🌬️ Stay Strong This Winter: NHS Vitamin Recommendations You Should Know! 💊

As the days get shorter and the weather turns colder, it’s more important than ever to look after your health — and the NHS has some simple, effective vitamin advice to help you stay well this winter.

Here’s what the NHS recommends:

✅ Vitamin D – The Sunshine Vitamin ☀️
From October to March, the sun in the UK isn’t strong enough for our bodies to make enough vitamin D naturally. The NHS recommends that everyone over the age of 1 should consider taking a daily 10 microgram (400 IU) vitamin D supplement during these months.

Why?
Vitamin D helps keep your bones, teeth, and muscles healthy and supports your immune system — especially important during cold and flu season!

💡 Top Tip: You can buy vitamin D supplements in supermarkets, pharmacies, or online. They're inexpensive — and a small step with big benefits!

So as the winter nights draw in, give your body the support it needs. A little vitamin D can go a long way! 🌨️

👉 Do you already take winter vitamins? Let us know in the comments or share your tips! 👇
