Mum guilt... I get it all the time!! 😢🤦🏼♀️
This week I will be trying my hardest to get out of my “lockdown mindset” in readiness for next week when my groups start up. I have found it so difficult to motivate myself to exercise during Covid. I find my time being taken up entirely with trying to entertain my children including my fur baby Oscar, tidy and clean the house and generally do everything but look after myself. It’s not their fault and they are so patient but my mum guilt kicks in and makes me feel down. Am I doing enough to keep them stimulated, happy, educated, outdoors blah blah blah. Mum guilt is high up there on the list of things that has knocked my confidence, zapped my energy and motivation and kicked me in the crotch so many times.
To anyone out there who needs to hear it... YOU ARE AMAZING. You are doing an incredible job and you are 100% enough. You are more than enough. Stay strong. There is light at the end of the tunnel. ###
Mum guilt - it's a THING! From the moment we see that little blue line on the pregnancy test it can kick in...
.. did we harm our baby by eating blue cheese before we knew we were pregnant? Are we good enough parents? Is it awful to admit some bits of parenting are hard or boring?
Is it wrong to go back to work and put our children in daycare? Should we have tried to breastfeed for longer?
Mum guilt can eat us up. And take over the fact that we are great mums - who care and are doing our best. Which - after all - is the best we can do.
We wish we could banish mum guilt forever. It just makes us feel rubbish when we're doing our best. And that is what makes us amazing mamas!
Have you ever felt mum guilt?
