Covid/flu update

From the 1st October, everyone 65 or over is eligible for a flu jab, and those between 65 and 75 should already have received an invite. If not please contact the surgery or go online to book yourselves into a flu appointment with one of the nurses..
As per the poster, we can also give the flu jab to those of you who are:
• In a clinical risk group,
• Carers
• Frontline healthcare workers and
• Close contacts of immunosuppressed individuals.
Again, please contact the surgery or book online if you are eligible. We will continue to send out invitations and reminders

The eligibility rules for the Covid jabs have changed and only those who are over 75 or immunosuppressed will be able to have the vaccine.

We have scheduled joint flu and covid clinics on all the Mondays in October for all those over 75 - you can book these online or please contact us.

Please let the surgery know if you do not want either vaccine so we can record this.

Lyme disease is a bacterial infection that can be transmitted to humans when they are bitten by an infected tick.

• ‘be tick aware’ and remember that you could be exposed to ticks whenever you spend time outdoors, including when in your garden or the local park
• ticks mainly attach to animals, but sometimes they may bite you or your family. It is important to remember that bites can occur on any part of the body and more than one tick can be attached at a time
• you can reduce the chance of tick bites by walking on clearly defined paths, using insect repellent and performing regular tick checks
• some tick bites can result in infection, so it is important to remove ticks safely and as quickly as possible
• the safest way to remove a tick is by using a pair of fine-tipped tweezers or a tick removal tool

🧠 Unpaid Carers in Wiltshire: Prioritising Mental Health and Wellbeing

In Wiltshire, there are thousands of unpaid Carers providing care to family members, friends, or Neighbours, with many of these carers dedicating over 50 hours each week, which is a commitment that can significantly impact mental health and wellbeing.

Nationally, nearly half of unpaid Carers report negative effects on their health due to caregiving responsibilities, with 19.5% experiencing low mental wellbeing.

If you are struggling with your well-being then why not come along to one of our Carer Cafés? They are all about unpaid Carers connecting, having fun, and looking after their mental well-being! It’s a relaxed space, with free refreshments, where Carers can chat, take a break, and catch up. Find a Carer Café local to you by checking our the events page of our website: www.carerstogetherwiltshire.org.uk/events/

If you feel you need mental health support, then reach out to Alabaré. They are part of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Partnership delivering mental health support services. They are committed to providing expert mental health support at the right time and in the right place for people living in Wiltshire.
