Katherine Stickland is our Client Engagement Lead based in the UK -- get to know a bit about her and her role this .

🔆 What does your role involve?

It primarily focuses on meeting new and existing clients to understand their needs and signpost them to the right support. I'm also in Thrive's management team which involves planning, strategy and looking at long term goals. Besides that, I sometimes have the opportunity to represent Thrive at face-to-face events and exhibitions which is always fun!

🔆 What does a typical work day look like for you?

Some are more meeting dominant: this could be with new clients, Thrive colleagues to get their expert clinical input, or with our Ops Team to make sure that client requests are handed over well. Other days are down in the depths of systems and data, or writing detailed proposals. It’s a blend of behind the scenes organisation and planning, and front of house hosting, a balance I really enjoy!

🔆 What do you enjoy most about your role at Thrive?

I enjoy meeting new people, learning about their work, and making genuine connections, whether it's through providing an objective listening ear or chatting about holidays. This helps build trust and find common ground, so that it's more than just a client-provider relationship. I also love the flexibility of my role and recently worked remotely from beautiful Gloucestershire (see photo!) 🌳

🔆 Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know?

I’m a socially agile introvert, love following the English Premier League (a Cherries fan), can swim pretty fast, and I’m more of a night owl than a morning lark! 🦉

Psychosocial work is filled with complex terms and concepts.

To make it easier for everyone, we've created an explainer of some of the key terms we use in our work supporting purpose-driven individuals and organisations. https://zurl.co/GPK2

Psychosocial work has plenty of jargon. Here’s an explainer of some of the important ones we use to describe our work supporting purpose-led people and

In our work with church leaders, we often spot a pattern.

As with many vocations, the pressures of the job lead them to overwork and eventually to burnout, and the support that they need comes too little too late.

But what if this support was proactive rather than reactive? And what if its focus was long-term resilience rather than just short-term problem solving?

These are the ideas behind our new 'Thriving In Ministry' sessions, which have been designed by Counsellor, Facilitator and our Church Lead Claudia Smith. Here she explains more: https://zurl.co/4xSw

If you or your staff immerse themselves in the suffering and trauma of others at work, it is common to suffer emotional consequences. This is called Vicarious Trauma.

In a recent training, we helped humanitarian workers understand how to manage and reduce its risk, and learn to take practical steps to develop their resilience.

"If we overemphasise the importance of these categories, and if we fail to see people through other lenses, then we may start to make false assumptions about them, and stop seeing them in all their richness and uniqueness."

More and more clients are telling us they find it hard to manage different age groups in the workplace. They cite how the contrasting needs, expectations and behaviours of each generation are a source of friction.

But it needn't be this way!

We decided to distill our wisdom on the subject into one short, simple resource, to help organisations:

1️⃣ take a fresh look at the problem
2️⃣ address the challenges
3️⃣ spot and embrace opportunities
4️⃣ take steps towards a thriving multigenerational workplace

It's called "Creating a thriving multigenerational workplace" and it can be yours right here: https://zurl.co/6gyS
