🚤 Training Shifted Up a Gear This Week! 🌊

This week at Medical and Water Safety Ltd, we’ve moved from in the water to on the water.

We kicked things off delivering another DEFRA Compliant Water Awareness Course, continuing our work supporting teams to stay safe around water environments.

To round off the week, we were out on the water running an Royal Yachting Association Powerboat Level 2 course for two coaches from the GB Rowing Team 🚣‍♂️ — a great couple of days building confidence, boat handling skills, and safety knowledge on the water.

From awareness to practical boat handling, it’s been a fantastic mix of training!

While our training team have been busy delivering the Safe Working in Water and safe working near Water courses, our events team have been just as active.

Over recent weeks we’ve provided medical and water safety cover at our regular NTE venues, immersive experiences, and alongside our valued sporting partners supporting Half Marathons, 10k, 5k and 20-mile road races, including the .

At Medical Water Safety, we take pride in continually raising the standards of safety across both the medical and water safety sectors, supporting an increasingly diverse range of events and environments.

Over the last two weeks our training team at Medical and Water Safety Ltd have been busy running back-to-back Rescue 3 Europe Safe Working In Water courses. 🌊

These courses were attended by teams from River Side Tree Care in Maidenhead, the salvage and marina team at Runnymead Boatyard, and staff from Harleyford Estate Ltd – all committed to improving safety for their staff and customers around the water. 👏

The Rescue 3 Europe Safe Working In Water (SWIW) course is designed for people who work in water environments and need the skills to perform self-rescue and co-worker rescue using conditional rescue techniques. Training includes:
• Throwbag rescues
• Wading techniques
• Reach pole rescues
• Dynamic risk awareness around moving water

It’s great to see marina and waterside teams investing in the right training to make their workplaces safer. ⚓

We also deliver the 1-day Rescue 3 Europe Safe Working Near Water (SWNW) course. This is aimed at staff who work near water, will be issued with lifejackets, but are not expected to intentionally enter the water.

🔥 A very busy week for the Medical and Water Safety Ltd training team! 🔥

We’ve been full throttle delivering training across both our water safety and medical teams.

✅ We started the week running the first of 25 DEFRA compliant Water Awareness courses for a client, helping staff understand the real risks of working near water and how to stay safe.

🌊 Next up was a 2-day Rescue 3 Europe – Safe Working in Water course, giving candidates the practical skills and confidence needed to operate safely in and around moving water environments.

🚑 Meanwhile, our medical team have been delivering a First Response Emergency Care (FREC) course, training the next group of responders to deal with real-life emergencies.

With multiple courses running at the same time it was a little busy on site today, but it’s great to see so many people developing vital lifesaving skills.

🚤🔧 Prepping the Fleet for 2026! 🔧🚤

Behind every safe event and smooth operation is a lot of hard work before the season even starts…

Over the past few weeks we’ve been busy servicing and preparing a number of our boats, making sure they’re fully ready for the year ahead.

Preventative maintenance is key to reliability on the water – especially when you’re providing professional safety cover.

A few of the team also headed down to Tohatsu UK for specialist training in servicing, fault finding and general maintenance of our outboards. Investing in manufacturer-led training means we can keep our engines running at peak performance and minimise downtime during the busy season.
While we were there… we may have picked up a few more engines too 👀

Back at base, we’ve also been freshening up the fleet with some new branding on both boats and outboards – keeping everything looking sharp, professional and easily identifiable on the water.

For those who don’t know, this isn’t just a quick check — our boats must meet commercial Boat Safety Scheme standards, and we are required to submit:

➡️ Directly to the Environment Agency

This ensures we are fully authorised and compliant to operate professionally on the River Thames.

We now have:
🚤 7 fully licensed Boats ready for deployment
➕ 5 additional vessels available on call for larger or multi-site operations

🚑🌊 Busy weekend and an exciting start to the week at Medical & Water Safety Ltd! 🌊🚑

Over the weekend, we delivered a RYA First Aid course, with another great group gaining essential lifesaving skills.

To kick off the week, one of our team has been away completing an instructor observation, supporting our journey to deliver even more Rescue 3 Europe courses. This is a big step forward for us and means we’ll are able to offer even more high-quality training.
