Someone once said if you take care of someone with dementia you lose them more and more everyday. When they get the diagnosis, when they go through different stages, when they need treatment and when they pass away. This is called "ambiguous loss". As the brain slowly dies, they change physically and eventually forget who their loved ones are. They could end up lying in bed, not moving and not eating or drinking.
There will be people who will scroll past this post because Dementia has not touched them. They may not know what it's like to have a loved one who has battled or is still battling dementia.
To raise awareness of this cruel disease, I would like my friends to put this on their page today.

OmniMusic’s FamJam brings joyful, inclusive music sessions for Disabled people and their loved ones to Stockroom. Using assistive tech and co-creation delivered by specialist musicians, these stay and play sessions are designed for everyone to join in the fun and make music together.
Please note that everyone is welcome and there is no need for any musical experience, however this workshop is not recommended for very small children under 5 years old.

Fam Jam is presented as a series of four events across the year.

On the 12th of October, there will be two Fam Jam sessions targeting different age groups.

Under-18s + family/friends
11:30am - 12:15pm (Doors at 11:15am)

Over-18s + family/friends
13:00pm - 13:45pm (Doors at 12:45pm) |

Fam Jam is an open-access high-quality interactive music experience for disabled individuals and their favourite people, to come and play, jam and laugh together.

Our most recent project is now working it’s magic.

Our project is now installed and we are so happy with the result. We will be announcing a date soon for a celebration and hopefully all of the artists can be there . Thank you to Marple Vision Team for agreeing to do the project and a special thank you to Marple carnival 50/50 community fund for their support. Not forgetting the hard graft Marple Men in Sheds did replacing and repairing the mounting boards.
And all of the wonderful artists aged between 4 and 86 years old who participated and created such beautiful art for every one to enjoy .

Project Update
Permission has been granted to create artwork for the three redundant panels on the side of Superdrug next to Iceland on Market Street in Marple.
This will be compiled of art work created by local Community of all ages.
The images will be of something that celebrates Marple.

Something you love about Marple.
We want to see a variety of subjects and styles , techniques both traditional and contemporary. Fresh approaches.
The final display will look like a permanent outdoor gallery.

TIMELINE

Sketches due
January 21st colour please if you are working in colour.
A small section of how the finished art will look would also be helpful.Include your name and contact details on your sketch and your age as we want a cross section of all ages to be represented.

Dropped off to Marple Stationery supplies on Stockport Road.

Jan 22nd- Jan 29th
The sketches will be reviewed by our team.
Art to go in the mural will be decided upon.

Artists will be notified Jan 30th
Arrangements made for artists to receive their prepared panels , project instructions and any materials required. Deadline given for final artwork.

There will be 2 All day drop in Workshops inviting artists to come and work on their pieces in the studio alongside other artists.
Dates to be announced.

Finished art will then be left with Art stop to be varnished and cure before installation.

HI Everyone
It's a wrap.

Just to let everyone know that the funding has come to an end for this project. We are closed as of Nov 20th until further notice.
I have tried twice to get lottery funding to keep the project going but unfortunately have been unsuccessful. Will keep trying 🤞
Thank you to everyone who came and benefitted.
