Yoga. with Helen Roscoe Yoga. with Helen Roscoe provides group classes and individual sessions. Body / Breath / Mind Sometimes I may introduce sound and teach seated breathing practices.

Yoga brings about focus that is practical and effective in creating a positive shift to our state of mind. I teach classes in small groups or in a one to one capacity and explore key yoga postures along with the concept of linking breath with movement. The idea is to move and breathe mindfully so that we can achieve a certain level of focus, removing us from the distractions of the mind. It is imp

We’re coming to the end of the school summer term, and honestly, my brain feels completely full. One child is about to leave primary school and take that big leap into secondary – such an emotional time. Our timetable is overflowing with invitations and requests from school, friends, and family… all good things! We love it. But it’s exhausting too.

I hardly have time to think about what to write here today because there’s so much more taking up space in my mind right now. So, it’s been all about showing up for myself on the mat each day. Taking those moments to clear the mental clutter, stretch out, release tension, and feel grounded again.

Amidst it all, I feel a huge amount of gratitude. For my family, my home, nature (of course) everyone who chooses to spend time with me exploring the amazing benefits of yoga… and even my cat, who brings so much joy and calm to our household. Pet therapy is definitely real. 🐈

As I prepare for a pause from teaching, I just want to say thank you. 🫂

To everyone who has joined me for classes, retreats, and events this year – your presence means so much. 🌟

August will bring planning time as I write, practice, and explore new ideas to share from September onwards. I hope to see you then.

In-person practice is where the real connection happens. Social media… less so. ❤️ So I look forward to making real connections in person this summer, I may be less active here! 💫

Following the gentle power of our last Subtle Yoga Evening in May, I’m excited to return to the theme of Prāṇa — Universal Energy — and explore it more deeply through practice in July.

This next session takes place in the heart of summer — a season that often draws us outward into activity and sociability. Together, we’ll take time to turn inward, staying cool, steady, and connected through restorative postures, breathwork, and a little more spaciousness for meditation.

Today we honour the Summer Solstice known in the Celtic wheel as Lithia - the longest day of the year, a moment of radiant stillness when the sun stands tall in the sky and invites us to pause, reflect and receive. 🫂

Throwback to our last family holiday in the sun after a stint of surfing at Famara beach in Lanzarote.

Having just returned from our UK break - with some patches of sunshine, it’s lovely when my camera roll throws me a pic such as this one reminding me of how amazing my family unit is and that I’m very grateful (and privileged) to live the life we do - enjoying moments like this together!

While I take a short break from teaching in person and online, I’ve shared a free, all-seated yoga practice for you to explore at home — perfect if getting to a class feels out of reach right now, whether for social, economic, physical, or emotional reasons.

This gentle session focuses on releasing deep-seated tension in the hamstrings, hips, and lower back — all without standing or weight-bearing on the wrists. It’s an invitation to pause, soften, and meet yourself with curiosity and care.

✨ Props like blankets, blocks, or cushions can help you feel more supported — and you’re welcome to adapt the whole sequence from a chair.

Thanks to this Subtle Yoga Tribe who along with others shared in their curiosity for the more nuanced layers of yoga - beyond the physical - so often overlooked by modern yoga!

Through presence, energy and openness we explored the vastness of Prana - an auspicious gift - a universal energy that pervades all manifested forms. 🍃 🌴 🌊 ☀️ 🐜 🌺

From the body electric to the quiet mind. We were able to notice more and tune in, such is the beauty of working subtly! 🌟 🫂

An Afternoon of Yoga, Nature & Sound Healing in Marple

☀️ Saturday 28th June, 1.30–5:00pm

An invitation: Join me for a gentle and reflective afternoon to celebrate the Summer Solstice – a moment to pause, honour the turning of the year, and connect more deeply with yourself and the natural world. 🌍

Through a rich and nourishing blend of yoga, nature connection, and sound healing, we’ll explore the energy of the sun in both energising and restful ways.

Expect an afternoon of movement, stillness, breath and sound designed to leave you grounded, uplifted, and deeply restored.

Joining me for this mini-retreat is sound therapy practitioner Elmarie Carter .yoga.sound who will guide a 30 minute sound bath to conclude the afternoon.

What to expect:

☀️ Playful & energising yoga including Surya Namaskara (Salute to the Sun)

🌬️ Breathwork, mudra & sound to deepen self-awareness

🌿 Silent walk in nature with mindful pauses and grounding practices

Want to find a moment to cool down amidst the early summer heat?

I can’t recommend legs up the wall (Viparita Karani) enough!

Whether you elevate the hips onto a block or folded blanket, rest your legs over the seat of a chair, or have your back fully supported on the ground with your arms away from the body. There are several ways to enjoy this restorative pose.

It can relieve tired legs, improve circulation (great for anyone experiencing fluid retention around the ankles or in the feet) and help to calm the mind - reducing feelings of stress or worry.

Take this in a cooler space and you’ll reap the benefits of helping to cool yourself down too.

As you settle bring awareness to the breath - on inhale follow the breath in through the nostrils - notice the cool air coming in.

On exhale - a gentle sigh - invite yourself to let go of effort, holding and excess heat!

To take this pose during pregnancy, elevate the spine so you’re in a semi-supine position - ie resting the back onto a bean bag or large cushion(bolster if you have one) lean this against a sofa or wall and elevate your legs onto a chair seat.

I hope you find ways to remain cool and calm during this hot spell of weather!
