Next up in our Teacher Spotlight… it’s Georgia 🧘‍♀️💛

Georgia has been such a huge part of building the community you see today at GWD Yoga. Her passion for movement, genuine care for every member, and deep love for yoga shines through in everything she does, both on and off the mat.

Here’s a little of her story 👇

With a background in dance, Georgia has always loved to move. That love eventually led her to yoga and in 2021 she completed her 200-hour Hatha/Hot Yoga Teacher Training, beginning her teaching journey.

But she didn’t stop there…
✨ Level 3 Personal Training qualification (2022) to deepen her understanding of anatomy and movement
✨ Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training (2024) to support women through every stage

Yoga became personal for Georgia too. After years of knee pain during her dance career, she experienced first-hand how powerful a consistent yoga practice can be. By making yoga part of her weekly routine, she was able to move freely and pain-free again.

And now? She gets to help others do the same 💛

Her favourite part of teaching is hearing how regular practice has improved her students’ strength, mobility, mindset and overall wellbeing. That’s what it’s all about.

You can find Georgia in the studio:
🧘‍♀️ Mondays - 10:15am & 6pm (Hatha Flow)
🧘‍♀️ Wednesdays - 12pm (Relax) & 6pm (Slow Flow)
🧘‍♀️ Thursdays - 10:15am (Slow Flow)
🧘‍♀️ Fridays - 12pm (Hatha)

If you’ve taken a class with Georgia, drop a comment below and tell her what you love most about her sessions 👇💕

And if you haven’t yet… this is your sign to book on and experience it for yourself ✨

Today we’re shining the spotlight on the lovely Emily 🧘‍♀️💛 .yoga

Emily has been such a valued part of the GWD Yoga community, and we’re so grateful for the calm, supportive energy she brings to every class. If you’ve flowed with her before, you’ll know just how special her sessions are ✨

Here’s a little note from Emily on how she got into yoga;

“After finishing my degree in 2018 and moving back home to Bedfordshire, I actually discovered yoga by accident! I joined a gym and went to attend a different class, but the teacher was ill so it was yoga instead.

It was definitely meant to be as I immediately fell in love with how it made me feel, and I noticed a great difference in my mood before and after. That was the first of many classes and I never looked back, and maintained a regular practice in Vinyasa and Hatha.

During the pandemic, I continued my regular yoga practice online, and this played a huge part in getting me through the difficult lockdowns. When we came out the other side and everything had changed, I decided I wanted to further explore the great sense of peace and fulfilment I felt from my practice, so I undertook a 200hr yoga teaching training course over 3 weeks in Bali, which was life changing.

Since coming back home, I’m now teaching weekly to all ages and abilities. I take my students through both steady and faster paced flows, with a consistent focus on the breath and being kind to ourselves to help achieve a better peace of mind afterwards.”

You can catch Emily in the studio
🧘‍♂️ Tuesdays at 6pm for Hatha Flow
🧘‍♂️ Thursdays at 6pm for Slow Flow
🧘‍♂️ Every second Saturday at 8am for Hatha Flow

A MASSIVE welcome to Rachel 👋🤩

We are so excited to have Rachel join the GWD Yoga team from March.

“Rachel is a 600-hour trained yoga teacher, who has been teaching yoga full time for 8 years. Rachel completed her 200-hour Ashtanga Vinyasa Teacher Training in May 2017 in Bali Indonesia with All Yoga Training.

Originally, she began practicing yoga in 2012, taking a few classes to keep fit and destress after work. However, yoga didn’t just improve her overall physical health, it made huge improvements to her mental well-being, providing her the ability to cope with a stressful career and everyday life.

Following a car accident in 2016, which left her anxious and in pain, she relied on yoga even more to get back to normal. It was this experience that gave her the focus to become a yoga teacher.

Rachel completed a Restorative Yoga course in 2018 and Yoga Nidra training in 2019. During 2020 and 2021 studied trauma informed yoga making her classes truly accessible to all.

In 2023 Rachel trained with Yoga in Healthcare Alliance to teach yoga for health, a social prescribing class within the NHS. In addition, Rachel trained to be a Children’s yoga and mindfulness teacher in 2018 with further training working with vulnerable children and additional needs with Special Yoga in 2020 and ongoing.”

We absolutely love the depth of experience Rachel brings. Her journey, passion and care for making yoga accessible to all truly align with everything we stand for at GWD 💛

📅 You can join Rachel every second Saturday at 8am for Hatha Flow starting 28th March.

Make sure you give her a warm GWD welcome in the comments ⬇️.

🌟 Pose of the Week 🌟

Warrior 3 (Virabhadrasana III)

Balance - Strengthen - Focus ✨

👉 How to do it:
1️⃣ Start standing at the back of your mat (Mountain Pose).
2️⃣ Step forwards with your right foot and bring your weight into the right foot.
3️⃣ Lift your left leg behind you as your chest lowers, aiming to bring your body and leg into one long line.
4️⃣ Keep your standing leg strong (a soft bend is totally fine).
5️⃣ Reach your arms forward, hands to heart or back behind you, whatever helps you balance best.
6️⃣ Keep your hips level, core engaged, and gaze slightly forward to help steady your focus.

This pose strengthens the legs, glutes, and core, while improving balance, stability, and concentration.

A powerful posture for building confidence and finding steadiness both on and off the mat.

💫 Try this today and feel yourself grow stronger and more grounded!

Save this for your next practice and tag us if you try it. ✨
