Today we honour the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of a generation that fought for peace.
During WWII approximately 383,600 British Military Personnel and Merchant Navy (and about 67,100 civilians also) died. This included both men and women in the armed forces and those who lost their lives during civilian attacks, particularly the blitz.
Our serving men and women today (not forgetting their families at home who support them!) military personnel who help keep us safe …..soldiers, sailors, airmen, Royal Marines along with various ranks represent the human resources of our country’s armed forces, playing crucial roles in defence, security and humanitarian effort….
WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE
