Facial movement is one of the biggest contributors to wrinkle formation 🤍
Every time we frown, smile or concentrate, underlying muscles contract and pull on the skin above them. In younger skin, collagen and elastin allow it to bounce back. Over time, as collagen levels reduce, repeated movement can cause lines to become more permanent.
For some clients, prescription-only muscle-relaxing treatments may be discussed during consultation to reduce excessive muscle activity. This can soften the appearance of expression lines by limiting repetitive contraction.
However, muscle movement is only one part of the ageing process ✨
Fine lines and wrinkles can also be influenced by collagen loss, skin thinning, dehydration and structural changes. This is why other treatments such as microneedling, polynucleotides, Profhilo, skin boosters and advanced skin therapies may be more appropriate depending on your skin.
At Essence, no treatment is assumed. We assess your skin, your movement patterns and your goals before discussing what is suitable.
If you would like to explore your options, book a consultation and we can decide together what is right for you 🤍
