When trying to stay well in winter we can often be harsh on ourselves. Telling ourselves we are not doing enough, that we are not enough.

This can leave us feeling deflated and demotivated. Often keeping us feeling in a state of helplessness...

To provide balance, self-compassion though self kindness gives us back our sense of peace and inner strength...

It allows us to acknowledge our struggles whilst reminding us that we are enough..

It helps us to remember that we are not alone in our feelings, that we can feel hardship and courage at the same time...

What kind words can you offer yourself today :)

✨ Happy New Year from all of us at Derbyshire Federation for Mental Health ✨

As we step into a new year, we want to remind everyone that your mental health matters — every day, not just today. Whether this year feels hopeful, daunting, or somewhere in between, you don’t have to face it alone.

Here’s to kindness, connection, and taking things one step at a time 💚🧡

Gratitude is a powerful practice that helps us to access feel good neurochemicals such as serotonin....

During the winter months when sunlight is reduced and worries can increase this practice brings an increase in feelings that ,make us feel more in balance, reduced stress and increase overall wellbeing...

To enable us to get the full benefit of this practice, asking ourselves "Why?" we are grateful for something ensures we are fully in the mindset of gratitude...

Some days can feel harder to find things to be grateful for.... however when we allow ourselves to pause, and focus on this practice we can begin to find even the smallest thing can sew a seed of gratitude...

Consistency is key to feeling long term benefits...just one moment of gratitude each day can have a big impact..

What do you feel grateful for today? :)

How we view and perceive our situation can shape how we feel and ultimately our mood...

if we allow ourselves to focus too much on the hardships of winter it can create a sense of helplessness and hopelessness...

When we reframe the way we think about winter, towards opportunity for rest, comfort, stillness and reflection we can create a state of regeneration and a state of hope and optimism for where we are and where we are going...

Over the Christmas season allow yourself to reflect on how you think about winter and to reframe those thoughts to create a more peaceful and joyful state of mind...

Merry Christmas all!
