Bereavement Event – December 2nd at Mad Hatter, Matlock

In the lead-up to our Bereavement Event, we’ve been spending time connecting with some of the wonderful local people who offer bereavement support in our area.

It’s been such an eye-opening experience — what we think bereavement support looks like is often just one small piece of a much bigger picture. There are so many approaches and caring individuals out there, each offering something a little different, meaning there really can be something for everyone.

Last week, we had the pleasure of meeting two lovely ladies who perfectly highlight this diversity:

✨ Sue McDonald – who runs local support groups in partnership with Complete Wellness Collective, creating safe, welcoming spaces for people to share, connect and heal together.

✨ Sarah Kallend – owner of Heart and Head Space, who offers a compassionate and holistic approach to supporting people through grief in a way that feels deeply personal and nurturing.

Our event isn’t about selling services or promoting any one approach — it’s about bringing people together. A chance to understand what local support is available, meet the faces behind these services, and hopefully find something that resonates with you or someone you care about.

We’re really looking forward to sharing this space with the community — and we hope you’ll join us.

Supporting Our Local Community & Derbyshire Wildlife Trust

We were delighted to support Matlock Salsa with a £200 donation towards their recent Charity Evening in aid of Derbyshire Wildlife Trust’s Rewilding Appeal.

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Christine Leonard (from our reception team here at Thomas Greatorex & Sons) and Georgina Jones, along with the fantastic support of DJ Esref Parranda Ulas and the wonderful Matlock Salsa community, an amazing £1,100 was raised on the night!

The funds will go towards the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust’s Middleton Moor Rewilding Appeal, helping to restore this beautiful area for local wildlife and the community to enjoy.

Matlock Salsa is a non-profit group that meets every second Friday of the month at Matlock Town Council & Imperial Rooms. Run entirely by volunteers, they’ve been bringing people together through music and dance for over 10 years — creating a true “salsa family” that supports good causes throughout the year.

We’re proud of Christine and Georgina for their ongoing commitment to the local community and to making a positive difference.

We’re proud to display the Golden Charter seal

The Golden Charter seal represents trust, reassurance, and connection.

For us, it shows that we’re part of a nationwide network of independent funeral directors who share the same standards of care and professionalism.

When families see the seal, they know they can rely on us - a local, independent business supported by one of the UK’s largest funeral plan providers.
