Be boring… or is it?

Going to the gym.
Walking daily.
Eating decent food.
Planning ahead.
Protecting your energy.
Repeating the basics.

It might look boring from the outside, but these are the things that actually move your life forward.

Consistency over chaos, every time.

Evening walks in the woodlands with Max. Nothing beats getting outside, clearing your head, and making the most of the evening light.

Fresh air, nature, a good walk, and Max doing his thing. Absolutely perfect.

Note to self though: read the signs about when the gates close… because the 8ft gate was one thing, but the spikes on top definitely added a slightly more “this could go badly” kind of vibe.

But hey-ho, managed it. At least the training came into play, while Max casually walked underneath like he owned the place. 🤣

Fresh air, movement, nature, and a dog with a much better exit strategy.

Pre-op. Post-op. Same mindset. Different pace.

As a personal trainer, I have always understood the importance of going into surgery as fit, strong and mobile as possible. But living it yourself gives that knowledge a whole different meaning.

Fitness is not just about looking strong. It is about building a body and mindset that can cope when life throws something at you.

The work you do before an operation matters. Strength, mobility, cardiovascular fitness, daily movement and mental focus all play a part in how prepared your body is.

But post-op is where real discipline kicks in.

Not ego. Not rushing. Not forcing it.

Recovery is about listening to the professionals, respecting the healing process, and learning to listen properly to your own body. Get to know it. Notice the signs. Know when to move, know when to rest, and know when pushing harder is not the answer.

For me, training has always been about more than muscle. It keeps my mind focused, my mood steady, and my body moving forward.

Strong before. Sensible after. Consistent always.

Keep moving. Keep focused. Keep going.

PROSTATE ISSUES, SLEEP AND MEN’S HEALTH…A conversation worth having.

I nearly didn’t post this, but I think more men probably need to talk about this stuff openly.

For years, I struggled with prostate issues, infections, discomfort and waking up five, six or seven times a night to go to the toilet. You don’t really realise how much broken sleep affects your life until it’s happening constantly.

Your energy drops. Your head gets tired. Your mental health takes a hit, and after a while you just start accepting it as “normal”.

Yesterday, I had a UroLift procedure after exploring different options with specialists. Opting for the least evasive and least side affects from the normal TURP procedure. It’s still early days, and recovery is definitely not fun 😅 but even one proper night’s sleep reminded me how important it is not to ignore your health.

One thing I’ve learned over the past few years, especially dealing with different health issues, is that you cannot take your eye off the ball when it comes to looking after yourself.

Keep asking questions. Keep looking for answers. Keep moving forward.

You are not alone in it, even when it feels like you are.

And honestly, in your 50’s (or 60’s/70’s or 80’s) life is nowhere near over. In a lot of ways, it’s only just beginning.

If this starts even one conversation or helps one person get checked, then it was worth posting 🧡

LOVE SHOULDER DAY. ONE OF MY FAVOURITES. 🔥

Superset: Arnie press straight into shoulder press. No rest.

Three sets, progressing in weight each round. Controlled reps… no ego, just quality.

Keep arms no lower than shoulder height to stay under tension and protect the shoulders.

Train smart. Feel the difference.

Good to be back on the battle ropes 🔥

Singles. Doubles. Slams.
Straight in after a shoulder session… feeling it.

3 rounds. Keep moving. Keep pushing.
Not a quitter. Never will be.

Form’s coming. Strength’s coming.
Bit by bit… back to top form.

Feels good to be back at it.

Three years ago I made a life board and much of it became reality. So here we go again.

Not to reinvent myself, but to take stock, make adjustments and stay open to what life is teaching me. Priorities shift, perspectives change, and often we grow through the things we never planned for.

Turning 50 feels less about starting over and more about getting clearer on what matters most. Health. Friendship. Creativity. Adventure. Love. Purpose. Home. Fun. Balance.

Life is meant to be lived and enjoyed. Even the difficult chapters can teach us something and often lead us somewhere better.

Balance is not something we find. It is something we create, one step at a time.

Write it down. Back yourself. Stay open. Keep building.

OMG… The Gentle Gymmers Do the Final Farewell 🎭💛

I genuinely don’t have the words for this…

What you’re about to watch was performed at my leaving party by a truly special group of people from our gym community, who turned something simple into something unforgettable.

Inspired by The Sound of Music, these incredible gentle gymmers came together and created something that perfectly captures what this community is all about…

Kindness.
Humour.
Effort.
And a spirit that never stops giving.

This is Maud, Scotland ❤️
This is what makes it so special.

They didn’t have to do this… but they chose to and they absolutely brought it to life in the most beautiful way.

I feel genuinely blessed to have been part of something like this.

👉 Please watch, enjoy, and SHARE this far and wide
