Seven longtime friends decided that retirement should feel more like a shared adventure than a lonely chapter. Instead of facing old age alone, they pooled their savings and bought a home designed for growing older side by side — turning a real estate purchase into a promise they made to one another.

The idea began taking shape in the late 2010s and gained real momentum around 2019, when rising living costs and concerns about aging alone pushed the group to act. Rather than waiting for the future to happen to them, the seven women began searching for a place where they could live together, support each other, and remain independent at the same time.

They eventually purchased a home in China worth about $580,000, then redesigned parts of it to balance privacy with togetherness. Each woman has her own private space, while shared areas allow them to cook, relax, and spend time together. They also discussed how they would handle caregiving and daily support as they grow older, choosing cooperation over isolation.

The story gained wider attention after local media documented how the friends structured their living arrangement and committed to staying together through the later stages of life. What resonated most with people wasn’t the house itself, but the choice behind it.

Instead of waiting to see what aging might bring, seven friends built the future they wanted — and agreed to face it as a team.
It’s a quiet reminder that community isn’t always something we inherit. Sometimes, it’s something we choose to build for ourselves.

5 Years of Ayrshire Healing Centre - it’s going to be a BIG beach party event this Spring .

Five years ago, Ayrshire Healing Centre opened its doors with a simple but powerful intention: to create a safe, compassionate space for healing, connection, and community wellbeing.

Since then, this place has held countless stories. Quiet breakthroughs. Brave conversations. Deep rest. Laughter, tears, growth, and moments of real transformation. What began as a vision has become a living, breathing hub shaped by every person who has walked through the door.

Thank you to everyone who has trusted this space, attended sessions, joined classes, supported events, shared kind words, or simply believed in the work. You are the heart of Ayrshire Healing Centre.

As we celebrate 5 years, we do so with immense gratitude and excitement for what’s still unfolding. The journey continues, and the circle keeps widening 💛
