Scott is one of our longest serving employees, and has been part of the team for over 18 years. Prior to this, he was working as a motorsport mechanic for track day cars and anything else fast, such as the motorbikes he used to race! He is one of our most experienced technicians and could probably fit most hoists and hand controls with his eyes shut - which is probably a good job because without his reading glasses he has to hold his iPad at arm's length to give him a chance of seeing it.
These days, Scott opts for a slower form of two wheels through mountain biking and road cycling. When he isn't doing this he can be found doing DIY jobs at home, and we are pretty sure he has rebuilt 99% of his house since he bought it. Scott is incredibly hard-working and gets through a sometimes incomprehensible number of jobs out in his van each day, and completes each one to the same high standard in rain and shine. In his own words he is fantastic because he is 'good at his job', but this is definitely a massive understatement!

A very happy 30th birthday to our wonderful Isaac! Have a great day, even though you are at work!!

Hayley has only been with us for around 10 months, but her 22 years of previous experience working in the automotive industry has already been clear for all to see. She has taken to her role in our technical sales team like a duck to water and is always looking out for ways to improve our systems. Hayley is often one of the first people you will get answering the phone and works closely with all of our lovely dealers and customers to ensure the whole process is well looked after.
Outside of work Hayley loves to keep fit through pole fitness classes and walks, and can often be found out for a lunchtime stride. She likes to cook at home, but in the office cannot resist the occasional sweet treat and is always ready to offer something from a well stocked snack drawer! Hayley brings a fabulous work ethic every single day and is always keen to learn, picking up new information very quickly. Superbly organised and a great team worker, we hope she will be with us for many years to come.

Celebrating our fantastic installer network!
It has been a very busy few months for our manufacturing team. A few years ago we wouldn't have possibly imagined Des Gosling Mobility products being installed in the numbers that they are across the country, and this wouldn't be possible without the hard-working companies out there fitting them. We couldn't even fit everyone on here, but a massive thank you to every single one of them for their dedication in providing high-quality installations. It has been a pleasure getting to know the individuals at these companies whilst these relationships grow and we look forward to many more years of collaboration!

Matthew is one of our most recent starters and has been with us for just under a year. Joining us straight out of University, he has taken on a role within our manufacturing team assisting with production and sales of our own product range. He is often tucked away producing kits, or out on the road lending a hand collecting vehicles. All jobs which go unseen to some extent, but that if weren't done would cause everything to grind to a halt.
Matthew is an avid Formula 1 fan and also a keen musician, regularly playing gigs around the country at the weekends. Coming from a non-engineering background, he has been thrown in at the deep-end but has a brilliant, open attitude to learning new things and lending a hand wherever he can. He has just got his first ever kit of tools which we hope means he is planning on sticking around for many years to come!

Matt has been a member of the team for 7 years now, starting out helping to manage our extensive vehicle database and nowadays a key part of our technical sales team amongst many other things. In his free time, Matt likes to play 6-a-side football, although it is best not to start a conversation with him and James about who is better! He has a wealth of knowledge about many of the adaptations we install, and the most regular question he gets asked may well be "Will this scooter fit in this car??", which he almost always has an answer for.
In his own words, he is fantastic in every single way. In our words, he is certainly fantastic for putting the coffee on everyday! Jokes aside, this is just a part of his general willingness to help in every way he can, which is part of what makes him a hugely valuable member of our team.

Particularly over the last few years we have all experienced how long the wait can be for a new Motability vehicle. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to hurry these up as, like Motability, we are at the whim of the factory timescales and wait patiently like you for the time when the vehicle arrives at the dealership and we can fit your adaptations.
What is important though is to consider any changes to your situation in the interim that might effect the vehicle adaptations you need. Your adaptations can be changed almost right up to when you take delivery of the vehicle, but it is much harder to change or add to them after this. So if you are waiting for a new vehicle please get in touch with us if your situation has changed and you think this may affect your adaptations 🙂
And in the meantime, we hope you know some other great films like Mr Bean's Holiday to help pass the time!

Struggling to operate your manual handbrake? Our retro-fit electric handbrake system transforms your manual handbrake into an automatic one that is operated at the simple push of a button. Suitable for almost any vehicle and also available on the Motability Scheme .
Chris has been part of the team for 5 years now following on from his Off Road Vehicle Engineering degree and a few years designing steel fabrications. He doesn't get off-road much at work though as he operates our remote site in Brackley, so is very much on the road covering on-site installations everywhere between Birmingham and North London. Outside of work, Chris loves to get outdoors. Preferably doing something active like hiking or cycling, but also keeping in touch with his off-road roots by helping out driving tractors on the farm. As every customer he meets would attest to, Chris always has a smile on his face and a plan up his sleeve for any eventuality - he even once chopped up the workbench from his own van to provide an on-the-spot solution! He takes great care with every installation he does and we don't know what we would do without him if he ever gets lured in to becoming a full-time farmer by all the off-road vehicles!

Struggling to lift the manual ramp in your wheelchair accessible vehicle? The Easy Ramp is a retro-fit product which transforms a manual ramp into an automatic one. Suitable for both single and double leaf ramps, the Easy Ramp allows quick and easy access to your vehicle at the push of a button.
Isaac has been part of the team for 6 years following completion of a Mechanical Engineering degree at the University of Bath. Working as part of the design team, he has been involved in developing the DGM product range and helps to manage the sales and support for this side of the business. As Des' son he also is uniquely positioned to be given all the odd-jobs Des doesn't really want to do!
In his free time Isaac likes to keep fit through running, cycling, climbing, and playing football for the local team (Melbourne Dynamo FC). He is a fantastic member of the team because he is always happy to help and has a very calm way of dealing with things no matter how busy it gets.

A simple adaptation that could just save your life. Pedal Guards are an important safety device which are often fitted in conjunction with hand controls. They stop the hand control users feet from becoming trapped under the vehicle pedals and preventing braking, or from accidentally pressing the pedals if they suffer from spasms. Easily removable for another driver and specific to your vehicle so you will barely notice that it is there.
What do you do when it seems like you have searched everywhere for the right adaptation for you but still can't find it? We regularly meet people who cannot simply purchase a ready-made solution to suit their particular requirements, and would be compromising their driving comfort and safety if they were to do so.
A perfect example of this is some adaptations we recently installed for Ellie, who is learning to drive for the first time. The adaptations required for Ellie were not something which was available as an off-the-shelf solution, so our team had to create a bespoke solution to get her seated comfortably and ready to start learning to drive.
The final solution included a custom seat with a base which could be easily shortened for her to drive, and a set of quick release pedal extensions so she can safely operate the pedals. All of this designed to integrate seamlessly and blend in with the swish interior of her new Yaris, both ourselves and Ellie were thrilled with the outcome and we wish her all the best with her lessons!
As we celebrate our 30th birthday as a company this year, we wanted to take the time to introduce our current team. We will be putting out a short bio for each of our wonderful team members to help people put a face to a name, and to shout about how great they are.
This all starts as ever with Des, who founded the company after working for a number of years at Rolls Royce. As you would expect, Des is involved in a little bit of everything, but can still be found on the phone speaking to customers most days he is here. He is currently building a house which keeps him very busy outside of work, but loves to cycle and ski when he can get away from the building site. His fantastic energy is what started this company and is reflected in it to this day. We have many customers who look forward to seeing Des each time they get a new vehicle, knowing that he still cares for each individual just as when he first started fitting adaptations from the back of his Toyota Tercel.

Providing mobility solutions for the disabled to get behind the wheel, Des Gosling Mobility Ltd was founded in 1993 with the aim of providing excellent products and service standards, whilst remaining a small, warm and friendly business capable of creating all manner of vehicle adaptations. Located in Melbourne, South Derbyshire, Des Gosling Mobility is Motability Accredited, meaning the Company is able to fit vehicles with a wide range of products from leading manufacturers.
Des’ career began at Rolls Royce where he spent many years as an engineer for the world-famous aero-engine manufacturer. Inspired by the example of his brother Jeff, who established Jeff Gosling Hand Controls, he founded Des Gosling Mobility Ltd. Today, the company employs a team of engineers, who work alongside Des to install mobility equipment, as well as find and create bespoke solutions to make your car work for you, whatever your disability.
❝We offer a wide range of solutions, so we’re happy to talk customers and car dealerships through the options available. Even if we’re unable to find a solution for their needs in our standard range of adaptations, we’re happy to create a bespoke solution for their specific requirements. There are a number of products that customers can try out in our demonstration vehicles, and we’re happy to provide a quote before any work is done. As we’re part of the Motability scheme, we get a lot of customers through that and many of them come back to us time and time again.
We pride ourselves on providing a friendly service and good advice based on lots of experience. Many of our customers have been disabled for a long time so are well aware of what’s available and what suits their specific needs. However, we do get customers who are newly disabled or those who are coming to us because they’re getting older, and we appreciate that it’s a whole new world for them. Therefore, we take the time to go through all the options. Our aim is to put the customer’s mind at ease, and help them to retain their independence.❞ – Des Gosling
We have a fully fitted workshop spread across three units on Station Yard that allows us to fit all manner of adaptations into your vehicle. We also have four mobile fitting vans, which enables us to come to you to fit a range of products if you’re unable to visit us at our workshop, either at your home address or your car dealership.
Just recently we have gained a customer waiting area, for customers to use whilst we’re fitting their adaptations at our workshop. If you are going to be waiting all day we sometimes suggest going into the town centre of Melbourne, which has a range of lovely cafes and boutiques only a ten minute walk away.
