The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride 🏍️✨

Every year, riders from all over the world take part in this incredible event from sunny Scotland to Brazil, and all the way back to where it all began…Australia!

True to the name, it’s all about dressing the part, bringing together classic and vintage motorcycles with plenty of dapper style! For the second year running, our Jenny proudly took part, joining fellow well-dressed ladies and gentlemen to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men’s mental health.
It’s amazing to see millions of people united for such an important cause. And in true Scottish fashion, we experienced at least three seasons in one day finishing in glorious sunshine to round off an epic day!

Exciting progress continues across two of our new crematorium developments in the North.

At Vale of York Crematorium & Memorial Gardens, works are progressing well with major milestones achieved, including high-level steel installation, completion of internal birdcage scaffolding in the crematory area, and continued progress across the service yard and car park infrastructure. Roofing works are now underway, with final masonry sections and parapet walls due to commence shortly.

Meanwhile, at Great North Crematorium & Memorial Gardens in Cramlington, strong progress continues on site. Brickwork and blockwork have now reached the third lift, parapet works are complete, and lower-level roof structures have been finished. Landscaping preparations are also advancing, with topsoil spreading and overseeding works underway, alongside additional field drainage improvements.

These developments mark another important step forward in creating thoughtfully designed spaces that will support families and communities for generations to come.

Today is World Bee Day, a chance to celebrate the amazing little insects that do such a big job for our environment 💛

Here at Borders Crematorium, we’re proud to have bee hives within our grounds, helping to support local bees and wildlife. Our gardens and green spaces provide a calm place for nature to thrive and we love spotting the bees busy at work among the flowers.

Congratulations to Mark and his team on a fantastic launch event last night, where they unveiled the new SuperVenue to industry professionals and welcomed distinguished guests, including Deputy Lieutenant Karen Trew. During Dying Matters Awareness Week, we’re reminded that planning ahead isn’t about being uncomfortable - it’s about care and clarity. When we share our wishes, we ease the burden on the people we love. We give them guidance at a time when emotions can feel overwhelming and we create space for a farewell that truly reflects who we are.

Whether it’s the type of service, music, readings or even just the atmosphere, these conversations help ensure our lives are honoured in a way that feels right. More importantly, they open the door to honest, meaningful discussions about life, death, and what matters most.

It doesn’t have to be a heavy conversation. It can start simply with: “Have you ever thought about what you’d want?”

Progress continues across our new crematoria developments, with positive momentum at both Vale of York Crematorium and Great North Crematorium in Cramlington.

At Vale of York Crematorium & Memorial Gardens, works are progressing well with continued advancement of both external and internal masonry. Scaffold lifts are ongoing as the structure develops, while preparation works above formation level for service yards and the access road are moving forward. BT diversion and alteration works are also underway, supporting the next phase of infrastructure on site.

At Great North Crematorium & Memorial Gardens, Cramlington, strong progress has been made as brickwork and blockwork move through the second lift, with scaffolding lifted to allow roofing works to begin. External works are advancing well, alongside landscaping preparations, including bund dressing and topsoil spreading ahead of the Spring seeding plan. Within the Memorial Garden, border and stonework to pathways are taking shape, and works to the lower-level roof have now commenced.

It is encouraging to see both sites developing well, with key milestones being reached across construction, infrastructure and landscaping. We look forward to sharing further updates as these projects continue to progress.
