Today marks the one-year anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) into Scots Law. This legislation ensures that Children’s rights are legally recognised and protected in Scotland. Public authorities, including the NHS, must respect and uphold these rights in their work.

The Children and Young People’s Physiotherapy Team are all wearing some extra blue today to mark the occasion!

We have some great parks and play spaces over the Borders. Parks are a great place for children to develop their gross motor skills, from climbing to balancing, running and jumping. Why not check some of them out and let us know which one is your favourite

Today we are very sad to see the lovely Kaye hang up her blue trousers as she retires. Kaye originally joined the team in 2012 to cover a maternity leave, that cover turned into another cover and then another. Kaye, who at the time was also working as a physio at Braidburn school in Edinburgh , then became a permanent member of the team. A few years later she made the decision to leave her Braidburn post and spend more of her working time down in the Borders.

Kaye has been an invaluable member of our team, imparting her many years of knowledge and experience whilst supporting many families and the wider team!

We wish Kaye happiness as she embarks on her next adventure and hope that she enjoys spending more time with her Granddaughters, husband and family!

This week, we’re teaming up with baby banks across the UK to support new parents and caregivers on their journey to connect with their little ones. 💬👶

✨ Each of the 10 participating baby banks has received a special gift package filled with baby communication resources. These will be added to new birth packs going out to families — helping parents start meaningful conversations with their babies from the very beginning. Alongside this, a local Brazelton Champions will be delivering a workshop to help parents understand and respond to their baby’s unique ways of communicating.

We can’t wait for an exciting, engaging, and meaningful week of learning and connection!
