GOOD Morning!
The Government have announced that massaging is open for business again from next Monday 13th July :)
To make it as risk free as "reasonably practicable" there are certain measures that we have to follow, making it safer for you and me.

Massages at my address:
Soft tissue therapists are now able to return to work but there will be some changes in how your appointment will proceed in order to continue to prevent the spread of infection. I list below some of the changes you can expect.

Firstly, if you are experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms, please postpone or cancel your appointment. There will be a consent form to complete regarding your exposure to Covid-19. If you are considered a high-risk client, it may not be possible to massage you at this time but feel free to discuss this with me.

There will be a short update consultation, prior to your appointment to discuss your needs and any Covid-19 issues. All consultation and consent documents should be signed and brought with you to your appointment or emailed beforehand. Please bring you own pen and water if needed, as I can no longer supply this. If you have a face mask, please wear this but if you don’t, I will supply you with one to wear throughout your treatment. It would also be helpful if you wear clothing which is easy to remove and avoid wearing jewellery.

Please remain in your car or outside and I will collect you at your appointment time, Please only bring a chaperone or legal guardian if necessary.
Upon arrival you will sterilise your hands with sanitiser provided and enter the practice room without touching anything.

The treatment room will have been thoroughly disinfected and all linen and face cradles replaced for each client. I will be wearing personal protective equipment which includes a mask, gloves and apron. Do not be concerned about the use of gloves, it will not affect your treatment.
The massage will continue as usual, although unnecessary chatting should be avoided to prevent droplet formation.

When the massage is over, please leave all the linens, untouched on the couch and try not to touch anything as you leave. Please keep your mask on until you exit the premises. It is also recommended that you register for the NHS Track and Trace app to maintain our safety.
Payment can be made prior to the appointment via Direct Transfer If you have to pay with cash, please bring the correct money.

Please note appointments will be spaced further apart than usual to enable disinfection of the practice space, therapy table, equipment and facilities.
I look forward to welcoming you back to the practice.

Massage at your home will be similar, if a roomy well ventilated space is available that would be ideal.
I will bring cleaning items for my couch and bags for waste with me.

Symptoms of corona virus
The most important symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are recent onset of any of the following:
·
a new continuous cough
·
a high temperature
·
a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)
For most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness. However, if you have any of the symptoms above you must stay at home and arrange to have a test to see if you have COVID-19

Consultation form attached.
I hope we can meet up again soon but if you are not ready yet or at high risk, i hope to catch up in the future sometime.

Stay safe

Breaking up sitting time

A major change to physical activity levels for those now working at home is the loss of active commuting to work or other journeys, and the incidental activity of moving around the office. In normal times, office workers spend approximately 70% of an eight-hour workday sitting.[10] The move to home working could potentially increase this. Workplace studies have examined how to increase incidental physical activity while at work- and these same principles apply to working at home. Evidence indicates that using three different strategies can help; standing up (if you are able) at least every 30 minutes; sitting less by aiming for approximately equal amounts of sitting and standing time, and moving more by increasing the type of physical activity you do just from one activity to another.[11] Some practical tips are that you can set reminders (use your online diary or phone) to stand up every 30 minutes, walk to get water regularly, or stand when you feel uncomfortable and need to change position. If you have an adjustable desk at home, try to spend equal amounts of time standing and sitting. If not, you can sit less by standing during online meetings and telephone calls. Be creative and use other things in your home to make a standing desk. We found that cardboard boxes on top of our desks work well. If you are chairing an online meeting, initiate a standing culture at the beginning. Move more by combining every other 30-minute stand up with walking laps around your house. If you have stairs, make sure that you include them in your lap. If you have more than one toilet in your house, use the one furthest from where you are working.

Moving for 1-2 minutes every half an hour is enough to break up your sitting.[12] You can perform body weight exercises in small spaces and with little equipment. For example, calf-raises, knee to elbow and standing wall press-ups target strength, flexibility, coordination and balance. More advanced exercise such as lunges, squats and sit-ups are alternatives for those who are already active. If you do not have any fitness equipment, look around your home and see what you can use instead. For example, you can use tins of food as hand weights for upper body strength exercises.

I hope you are all coping in these restrictive times.
Some of you will be working from home and finding it a very busy time others will have been put into a less structured life style being out of work or unable to work.
I am in the later but i give myself at least one task every day as well as getting a walk and half an hour with Joe Wicks.
That exercise is so important and can lift you out of the doldrums, give you energy and a positive attitude for the day ahead.
I have also volunteered to shop for the people locked down in the village under a scheme set up some locals.
I hope to be back massaging as soon as possible but in reality I think that could be a month or 2 away.
Keep exercising and stretching to keep your mind and body healthy, good healthy food and not too much alcohol!

Hope to see you soon
