Today, on Mother’s Day, I’m reflecting on the many forms that mothering takes.
Over the years, I’ve had the honour of supporting more than 1000 mothers through hypnobirthing and as a doula. I’ve witnessed extraordinary strength, vulnerability, courage, and love in so many different forms. Each journey has been unique, and each one has taught me something about the depth of the human heart.
Mothering is not defined only by birth.
It lives in the people who nurture, guide, protect, hold space, listen, and love deeply. It shows up in those who care for children, families, communities, friends, and strangers with tenderness and dedication.
Today I’m thinking of:
✨ those who have birthed their babies
✨ those who mother without having given birth
✨ those longing to become mothers
✨ those who have lost a mother
✨ those navigating complex relationships with their mothers or with motherhood itself
✨ those who mother in quiet, unseen ways every day
To mother is to embody qualities like patience, compassion, resilience, fierce protection, gentleness, wisdom, and unconditional love. These qualities shape lives and ripple far beyond what we can see.
To all of you who carry these qualities into the world — thank you. Your care, strength, and presence matter more than words can say.
And a special thank you to my own mother, who inspires me every day. ❤️ Your love, guidance, and example continue to shape the way I show up in the world and in the work I feel so privileged to do.
Today, and every day, we honour the many faces of mothering. 💚
