🦄Friday was saddle fit day 🦄

With weight and training fluctuations we generally have a fitting every 10-12 weeks. This ensures both horse and rider are comfortable and in as best balance as possible.

When selecting a saddle fitter I always advise using a society of master saddles (SMS) fitter. The fitting will include:
⭐ Assessment of structural soundness of the saddle
⭐Templates and back palpation
⭐Static assessment
⭐Ridden assessment
⭐Any adjustments required

Andy Milner has been fitting Finn since newly backed 5 year old, so we have a full template history and lots of information on his / my asymmetries. Small adjustments and we are ready to up the training ready for the spring Comp season.

With the grass starting to grow and longer daylight coming, now is the time to re-evaluate your horses diet and workload.

No matter the discipline, don't forget the fast work. Interval training or canter work can help improve cardiovascular fitness, reduce weight and support a varied/cross training regime.

But remember, don't go mad on your horses first trip to the gallops or canter hack of the year. Assess your horse's current fitness level and plan a conditioning regime to gradually increase fitness. This can help support a progression in training and hopefully reduce the risk of injury.

I have had the best 3 days at the annual Horses Inside Out conference 2026 this weekend.

So much information to digest and some fantastic conversations with fellow paraprofessionals. It really was a blast!

The first stage of Team GBR Teams try-outs & training will take place this weekend at Pickering Grange Equestrian Centre 🇬🇧

A number of British Horseball Ladies & Pro-Elite players will be training hard this weekend as they work towards being a part of the GBR teams, set to represent Great Britain playing Horseball in Lamotte-Beuvron this summer!

We are delighted to welcome back Nicolas Thiessard as the Team GBR Pro Elite & Ladies Coach this year!
