Hello everyone,

It's that time of year again - Macmillan Cancer Support! And whilst we all support this charity year round due to its fantastic reason for being, there is always an extra push nationwide with the Macmillan Coffee Mornings.

As a company we have run our own coffee morning in our office for the past 2 years and this year is no different. Again we will have hot and cold drinks, cakes, etc. all available at our office starting at 10am on the 25th September 2023.

We also have some fantastic prizes to be won with our raffle, at least 10 guaranteed winners so far with this number rising!

The staff of Elan are going further this year to top the money raised last year with a sponsored walk up Pen-y-fan, and to make it more interesting, many will be doing it in fancy dress! Will the hills of the Becons be something out of your dreams, or will it be a nightmare come true????

So if you know anyone working for Elan, get in touch and sponsor their efforts, or you can just get in touch with the office at 53 Bridge Street, Troedyrhiw, to find out how you can support our efforts to raise money for this amazing charity.

Thank you everyone for the efforts you've already put in 🙂

Currently working in care, or want to try a new career in care? As a care company that covers the upper Merthyr area (Dowlais, Pant, Gurnos, Cefn Coed, Swansea Road, Georgetown, Twynyrodyn, etc), we are currently looking for drivers to help us expand in-order to visit more people that require our services. These calls will include personal, continence and hygiene care, dressing, medication administration, preparing and serving food & drink

We pay our staff based on a shift basis rather than on a per call basis. So, rather than getting paid for each visit you make to a service user, staff get paid for a full 12 hours per day, with total call duration times usually between 8-10 hours.

The usual working day starts around 6.45am and ends around 8.30pm. During this time, there is often breaks between 10.30am-11.30am, 1.30pm-3.30pm and 5.30pm-6.30pm.

Our rates of pay start at £9 per hour, increasing depending upon experience and performance. Whilst it does not initially look like a great hourly rate, when you break it down to the amount of time in calls, the hourly rate works out between £10.80-£13.50.

Also, we try to work staff rotas based on a 6-day week. Many of our full-time staff are contracted to 42 hours per week. To give structure to this, staff are often rota’d into a 3 day in work, 3 days off work basis, where possible. This is a pattern we try to continue in a rolling monthly basis.

Sound good? If this is something that interests you, then please don’t hesitate to contact us;
