A massive shoutout to the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards from Combermere Barracks in Windsor! They visited us as part of their football tour and fundraising, and got stuck in volunteering with us. We loved having them join our litter pick! The team were also kind enough to finish the day with a brilliant football tournament alongside our young people at MVH Youth Team, which we hear was a very close game 👏

Huge thanks to everyone for coming along, and a special mention to Wales Tidy - South East litter picking hub at the Gellideg Foundation Group for lending us the kit!

We're excited to start National Careers Week by sharing highlights from a brilliant career session we hosted last week with Year 10 students from a local secondary school.

In partnership with Aspire 2 Achieve, we delivered a series of career talks to broaden horizons and show that there's no single route to success. Our team at Merthyr Valleys Homes shared their own diverse and sometimes surprising career journeys, speaking openly about the twists and turns along the way. We encouraged students to see that GCSEs are just one part of the bigger picture, and that different paths can lead to rewarding careers.

The students threw themselves into creating vision boards and career roadmaps, exploring different options, skills, and opportunities available locally. It was fantastic to see so many lightbulb moments and thoughtful questions about the future. Sessions like these help young people recognise their transferable skills and feel more confident in making decisions about their next steps.
