Yesterday, we came together with Keep Wales Tidy - South East, Pantysgallog Primary School, Fly Tipping Action Wales, Cyfarthfa Ward Community Group and community members from Pant & Dowlais for a litter pick in Pant.

It was inspiring to see so many volunteers, partners, and children working side by side to make our neighbourhood a cleaner, safer place. Events like this show the power of community spirit - when we work together, we can make a real difference.

A huge thank you to Keep Wales Tidy - South East for coordinating these fantastic events in our community, as well as everyone who joined in and helped out.

We have some great activities at the centre in October and would love to see you here. All sessions are free of charge and refreshments are provided ☕🍰.

Unfortunately we've had to move the Parent and Toddler group to a Tuesday, and would like to apologise to anybody who's inconvenienced by the change. There are also certain days that we're not able to run the session, so please just check the dates.

We'd like to thank the community for your continued support with all of the sessions running, and hope to see you soon 🙂.

Our next round of Grants & Sponsorship funding is now open!

What you need to know:

Our grant scheme is open to both constituted and non-constituted groups -
Up to £3000 for constituted groups.
Up to £500 for un-constituted groups.
or Sponsorship of up to £500.

Any community group, charity, social enterprise or not for profit organisation delivering projects within Merthyr Tydfil are welcome to apply.

We’d love for you to fill it in and tell us how we're doing, as well as how we can improve the services we offer. Your feedback helps us make sure we're providing the homes and support that tenants actually want and need.

We’re working with ARP Research to run this survey on our behalf. Your answers will stay confidential, so please feel free to share your honest thoughts.

The survey closes on 14 November 2025. If you take part, you can also enter our prize draw to win shopping vouchers: one for £100, two for £75, or three for £50.

Pop along for anything MVH - report a repair, sign up to Membership and talk to us about the benefits, learn how to get involved or even just come for a chat and a cuppa. We’d love to see you there!

Watch out! Scammers are targeting people with fake messages about the Warm Home Discount. Please help spread the word so no one gets caught out!

If you live in Wales or England, you don’t need to apply for the Warm Home Discount. The UK Government will not text you about it.

Scam awareness:

🔴 There is no need to apply for warm home discount if you’re in England or Wales - the discount is given automatically.

🔴 No one from the UK Government or Ofgem will ever ask for your bank details.

🔴 Don’t trust any texts about the Warm Home Discount; they are not genuine.

🔴 Don’t click on any links in dodgy texts or emails, delete them straight away.

🟢 If you’re eligible, you’ll get a letter in the post between October and December 2025. It will be from Warm Home Discount Scheme, PO Box 970, PRESTON, PR2 0FX. This letter will confirm you’ll get £150 off your electricity bill.

Last month, our Grant Panel awarded over £10,000 to local community groups and activities.

This was our second of three funding rounds open to community groups across Merthyr Tydfil, and we’re proud to be backing so many brilliant causes!

We had 13 fantastic applications and gave awards to all sorts of local initiatives, from sports to wellbeing to social groups.

The third and final round of applications for 2025/26 is now open!

Keep your eyes peeled for more info coming this month on MVH’s first Men’s Membership Events!

We’ll be contacting male members over the coming weeks to see what kind of activities and events you'd would like to be a part of this Movember. Don't worry, we won’t ask anyone to grow a moustache! 😊 - we just recognise that we rarely hear from our male members, so we’d like to take November to run some things just for you.

Hopefully, you can have fun, meet some new people, and learn more about what we do all year round, as we’d love for you to join in more. Nicky will be reaching out next week to gather your thoughts on what interests you.
