⚠️Glute bridge vs Hip Thrust⚠️

👉🏼 What’s the difference?

Video A: Glute Bridge.

Video B: Hip Thrust

The main noticeable difference is the depth on the eccentric (lowering) part of the movement.

In the bridge, I’m maintaining more of a ‘bridge’ position by not returning all the way down, keeping tension mostly on the glutes in the shortened position.

In the thrust, I’m doing a full rep from top to bottom using full range of motion. For me, the engages my quads more as there is more active bend in the knee (flexion).

➡️ BLUE ZONES ⬅️

👉🏼 Blue zones are typically described as groups of people or areas of a country where they are deemed as the ‘healthiest’ in the world.

☀️ This is generally classed by the amount of centenarians (people who live over to 100 or older).

👀 Interestingly, their diet composition is very different from region to region with places in Alaska eating a very high fat diet and other regions being very high carb.

✅ That being said, there are some common traits found in this groups of people, as listed in the picture.

👉🏼 Some other interesting finds in these people is moderate alcohol intake, good sleep, plenty of walking or NEAT related activity and sun exposure.

📣 The point of this post is that being ‘healthy’ revolves around more than just diet. Although you could argue it is THE most important, you could have fundamentally the best diet ever but if you’re stressed, got s**t sleep and stay indoors all day then I’d argue that you’re not as healthy as you think.

Two ways of achieving fat loss, tracking and non-tracking of calories and other variants.

Tracking can have huge benefits like a sound understanding of calories in common foods and being held accountable however it’s not for everyone.

Pros of not tracking; not having to go through the effort of scanning or writing each thing down, can use more imagination to make up meals more often. Long-term friendly in-fact.

Here’s a simple guide to follow!

Chose a serving size of protein then a carb source and then maybe add in fat with cooking oils.

Don’t imitate a mountain with your plate content. Maybe aim for 2-4 staple meals per day.

This is the weight fluctuations one of my clients had before.

Weighing daily can HELP remove emotion from the scales but allowing you to see how normal daily fluctuations are.

This method is far from a one shoe fits all approach however it may help certain people.

Maybe try a 3x weekly approach as a middle ground, too.

Here’s 1lbs of fat.

I think it’s important to understand just how much this is.

Because when you step on them scales and you’ve only lost 1, 2 or 3lbs you’re actually making a significant difference.

Yes, due to social norms and the likes of slimming clubs using the ‘lose as much weight as possible’ approach then it may not seem like a lot.

However, providing your weighing is accurate by using the same times each month, same scales, same time of day, same stress levels etc then you can be pretty sure it is fat.

And I don’t know about you, but I’d rather weigh 3lbs less of pure fat than 6lbs of water, little bit of fat and because you had a big s**t.

👀Weights or cardio?
Again, it depends ⬇️

1️⃣So, there’s a few ways you could train and I’ll always suggest do something that requires as little effort as possible, to start.

2️⃣However, as we may think; weight training can be more beneficial if done correctly.

3️⃣Long-term, I think people’s physique would be *better* if they put as much time into resistance training as they do with cardio.

Although I’m in the middle of getting this all together, I’ve decided I want to put my qualification to more use and begin my journey of having a successful but small consultancy.

To begin, I’ll solely be working with people looking to lose weight however over time, hopefully with a small team; I’ll be looking to broaden what type of clients I’ll be working with.

I think there’s a big gap in the local industry for some reliable, actionable and trustworthy advice around training & nutrition and I’m looking to fill that gap!

I’d appreciate if you could go follow

Thank you!!
