Something significant happened in Parliament this week

The UK’s first National Allergy Strategy was launched as a long-term plan to improve the prevention, diagnosis, support and treatment of allergies across the country.

This strategy is a step in the right direction, and clinical research, like our ongoing allergy study, is part of what makes allergy care possible.

We are proud to be doing that work.

This week is Allergy Awareness Week, so we’d like to let you know about the research we’re doing in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales.

We’re currently running a study investigating a new allergy treatment, delivered as a tablet which dissolves under your tongue. This is being investigated as a potential alternative to EpiPens.

For millions of people, the EpiPen is, and has been lifesaving. It comes with its challenges however, such as anxiety around injections. Research like ours investigates the question – is there an easier option?

If you have a clinically diagnosed peanut allergy and are aged 18-55, you may be eligible to take part in advancing allergy research. Inconvenience payment: £2050.

In Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales, we are investigating a new drug for people with atopic dermatitis.

No overnight stays, an inconvenience payment of £3,325, and the chance to contribute towards the potential improved health of millions living with this condition.

I Wish I Knew

Allergy Awareness Week 2026 continues the I Wish I Knew campaign, shining a light on a simple but powerful message: diagnosis matters.

Allergy affects millions of people across the UK. Despite this, many still struggle to recognise the symptoms or access the support they need. As a result, many people live with allergy symptoms for years without understanding what is causing them or how to manage them safely.

The week also marks an important milestone for the allergy community. During this campaign, the UK’s first National Allergy Strategy will be launched at a parliamentary reception hosted by Allergy UK, setting out a long-term vision for improving allergy care and support across the UK. A key part of this work is around increasing awareness, inclusion and quality of life for those affected by allergy.
