CTM’s Chest Clinic team will be hosting a new monthly lung cancer support group in Dowlais.

The sessions will be held on the last Tuesday of every month, at the Guest Memorial Bowls and Social Club, Charlotte Gardens, Dowlais, Merthyr Tydfil. CF483LJ.

The first session will be held on Tuesday 30 September, 10:30am – 12:30pm.

The sessions will offer tea/coffee, and chance for people to meet and have a chat with other people going through the same thing. CTM’s lung cancer team will be there to support with any questions.

These will be drop-in sessions, with no need to book.

Don’t fall for it – falls are not a normal part of ageing.

In Wales between 230,000 and 460,000 people over the age of 60 fall, but over 50% of falls are preventable. Furthermore, 50% of people experience loss of confidence after a fall but confidence can be rebuilt.

From 15 - 19 September, we will be running a series of information stalls across Cwm Taf Morgannwg focussed on preventing falls. We'll also be joining a Falls and Wellbeing community-focused event, hosted by Bridgend Falls Partnership Group on Tuesday 16 September.

Another double welcome this week, to twins Annie and Lewie. Born last week at Prince Charles Hospital where mam, Lois, felt like her care was second to none. 💙

FREE Antenatal Baby Shower

We are delighted to announce that our next FREE Antenatal Baby Shower event for new families and parents-to-be will be held at The Orbit Business Centre, Merthyr Tydfil on Monday 22 September, 1pm – 4pm.

Please note this is available to all families who live across the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board localities.

The event will include talks from our midwives about labour and birth, advice on feeding your baby, baby massage demonstrations and parents well-being.

📢 Last few days of the children's vaccination catch-up programme: walk-ins available 1 – 5 September 2025

Over the summer holidays, our Vaccinations and Immunisation service have been inviting the parents of all school-aged children who may have missed one of the following vaccines to invite them to one of our Community Vaccinations Centres (CVCs) across CTM:

Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR)
Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
Meningococcal groups A, C, W and Y (MenACWY)
Tetanus, Diphtheria and Polio (Td/IVP)

If you have been unable to make your allocated appointment, and believe your child has missed one of these vaccines, you can walk-in to any one of our six Community Vaccination Centres from 1 to 5 September.
