On Thursday 26th March the Trust simulation team supported the delivery of the Acute Care Common Stem Course. The Acute Care Common Stem course, led by emergency care consultants Dr Catriona Lane and Dr Ian Blain, is a broad training programme that gives doctors the skills to recognise and manage acutely unwell patients. It is the main core training route for Emergency Medicine (EM) and can also be used as a route into Anaesthetics, ICM and other JRCPTB‑listed medical specialties.
One resident doctor who attended said "Each scenario had their own quirks which brought unique challenges not dissimilar to what we encounter in daily life so it was good to experience it in a simulated environment".
Well done to all our resident doctors who participated on what was a very educational and enjoyable day!

A fantastic opportunity today for our Human Factors and Civility team, who were invited to showcase the training we offer to staff with our ICB colleagues 👏

The session highlighted how developing a deeper understanding of Psychological Safety, Civility, and Human Factors can transform teamwork and ultimately improve patient safety. Through interactive discussions and shared experiences, we explored the real impact these elements have across our services.

We’re proud to be able to offer this engaging and practical session to all staff across UHT-supporting safer, kinder, and more effective ways of working together.
