Mounjaro (weight loss injections) - update for patients
Thinking about Mounjaro (tirzepatide) injections for weight loss?
Heard you can now get them from the NHS?
The ICB (Integrated Care Board) have been tasked by NHS England with providing these in GP practices by 23rd June.
But…
Only for very specific groups of patients with a number of particular health conditions - estimated to only be a handful of patients in each practice.
And…
The details of how GPs will be able to provide these injections have still not been agreed.
So…
Please don’t make an appointment about Mounjaro yet - we are very likely to have to disappoint.
We will contact eligible patients if and when we are able to provide Mounjaro / We will provide further information on our website and other channels if and when we are able to provide Mounjaro
Also…
Even when details of how GPs can provide Mounjaro have been agreed, we will need to arrange training and set up clinics, which will take time.
We want to help as many patients as we can, but are limited by the plans of the ICB based on NHS England requirements.
Summary:
Please help us to help you - we will tell you as soon as we can help you with Mounjaro, so please don’t make appointments about this right now.

❗️ IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT OUR 0800 CRISIS SERVICE TELEPHONE NUMBER

If you, or someone you know, is experiencing a mental health crisis call NHS 111 and select the mental health option.

From Tuesday 3 June, our 0800 crisis line number will be deactivated. This means there will be no voice message and calls will not be transferred.

Crisis services haven’t changed and are still provided by our Trust. It’s just a new telephone number to call which is free and easy to remember.

Available 24/7, you will speak to a mental health professional who will listen to you and help you find the right support.

Details of a celebration event in Middlesbrough’s Centre Square have been released ahead of a visit by The King and Queen ⬇️⬇️

Their Majesties will take part in a series of engagements in the town on February 13 before appearing in the square and meeting local dignitaries.

⏰ The celebration event runs from 1pm to approximately 3pm
🎤 Mike McGrother will lead performances of songs and poetry that celebrate Middlesbrough with his Infant Hercules Choir and band The Wildcats of Kilkenny
📻 BBC Tees will broadcast live from the event
🍴 Hot food and soft drinks will be available from local businesses, while visitors can enjoy nearby town centre restaurants
🛡️ There will be a visible police presence and event security staff to help keep people safe. Please don’t bring bags larger than an A4 paper size. Those attending the event may be searched. All visitors should remain alert and report anything that makes them feel uncomfortable to security staff or police
♿ There is a designated area for wheelchair users within the event space, please contact events@middlesbrough.gov.uk to request a place before Tuesday February 11
🚌 Middlesbrough's Bus Station and Railway Station are a short walk away. There will be some changes to Arriva and Stagecoach bus services due to a partial closure of Albert Road.
🅿️ There are multiple car parks in Middlesbrough town centre. Please note, Mima and the Civic Centre car parks will be closed on the day.
