🗣️ When we can’t care, who will?
At Heritage Healthcare North East, we provide essential care services that allow people to live independently, safely, and with dignity in their own homes. But that vital work is under threat.
This week, the government announced plans to freeze overseas recruitment as part of a new Immigration White Paper. For social care providers like us, already struggling to recruit and retain staff, this is nothing short of a hammer blow.
We’re not just talking policy here, we’re talking about the future of our local business, our staff, and the vulnerable people in Darlington, Redcar and Cleveland who rely on our services every single day.
Despite contributing over £68 billion a year to the UK economy and employing more people than the NHS, the social care sector is being deliberately sidelined. The refusal to fund ENICs was bad enough—this immigration freeze could be catastrophic.
💥 We’re losing access to a skilled and committed workforce.
💥 We’re being forced to turn away new care packages due to staff shortages.
💥 Our ability to grow, support our team, and meet local need is being strangled by government inaction.
And yet…
💷 Every £1 spent on social care returns £2.36 to the economy.
🧠 Social care supports the mental health of both clients and family carers.
🏥 Every £100 spent on care saves the NHS £35.
We ask McEvoy MP and Turley MP to stand up for the social care providers in their constituencies and demand that this government recognises the value of our sector, before it’s too late.
We are proud of the work we do. We know the difference we make. But without urgent support, care providers across the North East will face impossible choices.
It’s time for real reform. not more empty promises.
