☀️ Half way through summer holidays ☀️
With the summer holiday definitely here you may be taking your little one swimming this year whether it be abroad or just to the local swimming baths.
It's important to know how to keep your little ones feet healthy this summer to protect them from verrucas.
We find many children will come into the clinic September with a new spot on their feet or hands🦶🖐.
But don't worry it's nothing to worry about!
Verrucas are a very common type of virus that normally occurs in children due to there immune system being so new and open.
Commonly children and adults won't get the verrucas from being in the pool but they can occur from around the sides or changing rooms and communal showers. This is due to the verruca virus can be spread very much like a cold 😪
So how do you protect yourself and your little ones this summer ☀️
1. Try to get your little ones or yourself to wear sandals around the pool, in the showers and changing room. Trying to limit you barefoot touching anything will help to contain the spread.
2. You can buy Verruca socks for you and your little ones to protect them in the pool and while they are running around if sandals are abit of a nightmare🤕
3. If you notice anything new appearing on the hands or feet that looks slightly dark or white it could be a Verruca appearing. At this stage we would recommend you book a Verruca initial advice and treatment appointment so we can discuss any treatment plans to get rid of this Verruca as soon as possible.
Bear in mind a Verruca is a virus and will normally go on it own by your immune system. However if your noticing the Verruca isn't going or its getting bigger and spreading it may be worth booking an appointment to discuss with a podiatrist.
Heres to a great summer ☀️
