A free drop-in session to raise awareness about skin cancer will be available at one of the biggest agricultural shows in the region.

The skin cancer team will be organising a free pop-up stand on Saturday 20 September at Stokesley Agricultural Show.

Throughout the day, the awareness stand will offer free skin checks, sample-sized sun cream, skin care products, and pens.

The team will also provide advice and leaflets on how to stay safe in the sun and ways to spot skin cancer early.

The checks are open to everyone but the skin cancer team is encouraging all farmers and rural workers attending the show to get their free skin checks, as they are at a higher risk of developing skin cancers than the public due to the nature of their work.

Consultant plastic surgeon Oliver Bassett said: “Rates of skin cancer continue to rise steadily across the UK but when caught early it is usually highly treatable. Farmers and outdoor workers often spend long hours in the sun and are at a higher risk than the general population.”

Mounjaro (weight loss injections) - update for patients
Thinking about Mounjaro (tirzepatide) injections for weight loss?
Heard you can now get them from the NHS?
The ICB (Integrated Care Board) have been tasked by NHS England with providing these in GP practices by 23rd June.
But…
Only for very specific groups of patients with a number of particular health conditions - estimated to only be a handful of patients in each practice.
And…
The details of how GPs will be able to provide these injections have still not been agreed.
So…
Please don’t make an appointment about Mounjaro yet - we are very likely to have to disappoint.
We will contact eligible patients if and when we are able to provide Mounjaro / We will provide further information on our website and other channels if and when we are able to provide Mounjaro
Also…
Even when details of how GPs can provide Mounjaro have been agreed, we will need to arrange training and set up clinics, which will take time.
We want to help as many patients as we can, but are limited by the plans of the ICB based on NHS England requirements.
Summary:
Please help us to help you - we will tell you as soon as we can help you with Mounjaro, so please don’t make appointments about this right now.

Colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers in the UK, with over 42,000 people diagnosed each year. Early detection saves lives, but symptoms can often be mistaken for other conditions. Knowing the signs can help you or a loved one seek medical advice sooner.

Symptoms to watch for:
✔️ Changes in bowel habits
✔️ Blood in your stool
✔️ Persistent abdominal pain or discomfort
✔️ Unexplained weight loss
✔️ Fatigue or weakness

If you notice any of these symptoms and they persist, speak to your doctor.
