🚨 Nationwide Emergency Alert Test🚨

This Sunday 7th September 3pm.

The UK’s new emergency alert system will send a loud siren, message, and vibration to every compatible phone even on silent. Survivors of abuse with hidden phones could be put at risk if the device is discovered.

You can opt out in your phone’s settings to protect your safety.
✅ iPhone: Search “Emergency Alerts” in settings → Turn off Severe & Emergency alerts
✅ Android: Search “Emergency Alerts” in settings → Turn off Severe & Emergency alerts (and other threat categories if listed)

Before the Easter fun begins 🐰, we just want to remind you that mini size solid chocolate eggs are not suitable for children under 4, as they are the perfect size to block their airway. If you do choose to let your children have them it's far safer to crush them up into smaller pieces, but a larger, hollow chocolate treat is a much safer option.

Let's keep our little ones safe.

Some important advice here from Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service ahead of Halloween.

Do you know what you're dressing your little pumpkin up in?

The spookiest night of the year is approaching, but Halloween could become a horror story if you aren't careful.

Halloween costumes are often classed as toys, meaning they aren't subject to the same fire safety checks as normal clothing.

This means Halloween costumes often burn quickly or melt, as seen in this picture. We encourage you to make sure your child is wearing normal clothing underneath their costume so there's something between them and their costume if it catches fire.

You can also swap your candles for electric lights instead, reducing the fire risk to your household and family.

If you're an adult, avoid drinking around candles, especially if you're looking after a little vampire, Save the witches' brew for somewhere without fire.

Finally, if a costume does catch fire, remember to stop, drop, and roll. Speak to your children too, it might seem like common knowledge to you but it's always best to inform your child of fire safety advice.
