If someone’s mental or emotional state starts to get worse quickly, it's called a mental health crisis or mental health emergency.

If this happens to you or someone you know, it's important to get help right away.

📞 You can call NHS 111 anytime, day or night, select the mental health option.

Calls will be answered by mental health advisors who will ask you some questions and listen to you. They’ll provide reassurance and make sure you’re directed to the most appropriate professional or service.

We have received lots of calls this week regarding vaccinations against MenB.

💉 Who has already had the MenB vaccine?

The MenB vaccine is part of the UK routine childhood immunisation schedule. It is usually given to:
• Babies at 8 weeks, 16 weeks, and 1 year of age
• Some individuals at higher risk (as advised by a healthcare professional)

👩‍⚕️ Who has NOT routinely had it?
Older children, teenagers, and adults will not usually have received the MenB vaccine unless they were in a specific risk group.

📍 Can you get the MenB vaccine now?
The MenB vaccine is not routinely available on the NHS for older children or adults, but it may be available privately at some pharmacies and travel clinics.

⚠️ What should you do?
• Check your child’s Red Book or vaccination history
• If you think your child has missed a routine vaccine, please contact us
• If you are concerned about symptoms of meningitis, seek urgent medical attention

For more information, visit the NHS website or speak to a pharmacist.

What do parents need to know about measles?

Measles spreads easily and can make children very poorly.

Look out for:
🤒 High fever
😮‍💨 Cough and runny nose
👀 Sore eyes
🔴 A blotchy rash (usually starts on the face and behind the ears)

If you think your child has measles, keep them at home and call your GP or NHS 111.

The MMRV vaccine is the best way to protect them – check they’re up to date.
