KATIE PRICE REVEALS HER FUNERAL PLANS ON ITV's LOOSE WOMEN

Katie Price reveals her funeral plans on ITV’s Loose Women 14 February 2017.

Katie Price, the former glamour model and pop artist formerly known as Jordan, spoke on ITV panel show, Loose Women, a few months back, about her funeral arrangements which include a crystal coffin, 12 black horses and carriage.
Famous for her strong opinions, mother-of-five, Katie Price described in detail how she wanted to make sure that her children are protected in the event of her death. She told the show: “I'm quite organised with everything we do but when we spoke about this it actually frightened me because I haven't got anything in place."

Research conducted by Funeral Planning Services shows that security for loved ones left behind is one of the key factors behind the rising popularity of funeral costs.

Price, 38, went on to explain that she has even gone as far as to arrange her own funeral. “I want a carriage, six or 12 black horses, I'll even sing at it, I'll pre-record it! I want a crystal coffin,” she said. “And here's a little business plan I'm thinking about bringing out crystallised coffins.”

Research has shown that the average age of people taking out funeral plans continues to decrease as younger people have less disposable income and fewer assets than in previous generations.

When asked by the Loose Women panel about why she had thought about this so far in advance, she concluded: “People should get organised because there's so much for the family to organise and they're already grieving. Getting your funeral organised is a good thing."

What Is a humanist funeral? And why are they becoming so popular?

Humanist funerals are a rising phenomenon. Provided by an increasing number of practicing celebrants, these bespoke ceremonies mirror the life of the deceased. Funeral Planning Services looks at how the emergence of Humanist ceremonies is changing the way we all view send-offs.

The best way to explain a humanist funeral is by first explaining what the term Humanist means. Atheists or agnostics who do not lend themselves to any particular religion often subscribe to Humanist ideology. What this means is a pledge to live ethically and prioritise human welfare and empathy. However you don’t have to be a humanist to have a humanist funeral and in fact an increasing number of people including celebrities, like late magician Paul Daniels, request a funeral with humanist features.
Humanist funerals differ from traditional funerals in the order of proceedings and the way in which the deceased is remembered. Whereas a traditional funeral centres on readings and hymns and often takes place in a church, a humanist funeral usually takes place either at a crematorium or at a woodland burial ground and reflects the way in which the deceased lived including interests and memories.
Musical celebration is often much more modern and is always personally linked to the person, unlike in religious or traditional ceremonies, where hymns usually make up most of the musical accompaniment. Humanist funerals are usually conducted by a celebrant. A Celebrant is someone who is trained to sit down with the bereaved and put together an appropriate ceremony which is bespoke to the deceased and fittingly commemorates their life. According to the British Humanist Association, there are more than 300 trained celebrants working in the UK right now.

The website www.Humanism.co.uk describes their ceremonies as: “The death of someone we know and love is often shocking and painful, even if it is expected. Humanist funerals and memorial services offer a personal and fitting way to say goodbye to those who have lived without religion. Many thousands are conducted by our celebrants each year.

“Humanist funerals bring people together to express sadness at the loss but also to celebrate the life lived. They focus sincerely and affectionately on the person who has died, paying tribute to the connections they made and left behind and the way they lived their life.”
Most funeral directors arrange Humanist funerals in advance and wishes can be specified with a funeral plan, including music and reading choices, burial site and much more.

Purchasing a funeral plan means facing your own mortality, which takes courage at any stage of life. Here’s why saving your loved ones money and the stress of heart breaking decisions at the most difficult time is worth biting the bullet for.

Fate cannot be tempted
Many of us believe that talking about our funerals is in some way ‘tempting fate’. In reality, the process of taking out a funeral plan has no impact on the rest of your life; it just safeguards your loved ones for what happens afterwards
Funeral Costs are rising
The well-documented rise in funeral costs has shown no signs of slowing down in recent years. In fact the SunLife Cost of Dying Report 2015 showed that since 2004, funeral costs have risen by more than 90 per cent, with the national average cost of a basic funeral sitting at more than £3,500.
Funeral plans enable holders to freeze the cost of a funeral at today’s price. This means that if the cost of a funeral today is £3,500, it is predicted that by the year 2020 the same funeral will cost £4,620. With interest rates at an all time low, savings accounts would never be able to keep up with the returns on investments provided by a funeral plan. As funeral prices continue to rise, the price you pay on the day is the total amount you will ever have to pay, no matter how much funeral costs rise.

Don't leave it too late
It’s easy to put off making plans for you own funeral. After all taking out a funeral plan and speaking frankly about how you would like your funeral to take place means recognising there is an end to our lives.
One day it will be too late to take out a funeral plan and protect loved ones from emotional decisions and costly funeral expenses. By spending an afternoon getting in touch with your local independent funeral director and putting a funeral plan in place you can get on with the rest of your life without ever having to worry again.
