We're shining a spotlight on Debbie and her memorial donation she has made to the Hospice in honour of her auntie and uncle, Pat and Jimmy 💜
Pat was admitted to the Hospice in November last year, followed by her husband Jimmy who was also admitted on New Year's Eve, sadly passing away three days later.
Debbie shared "Everybody at the hospice was like a family. The day auntie Pat came in, the chef gave her a lovely piece of quiche which was her last meal, she had massages, her room was filled with lovely music, candles, hearts on her pillows, and as a nurse myself it was just so lovely to see those little touches.”
Debbie’s husband also shared: “The staff were just so, so nice. I remember coming in with Pat and one of the doctors sat with us for an hour, and spoke with us about Pat’s life story. You could tell she was genuinely interested in getting to know her and our family, and I haven’t forgotten that. When Jimmy passed away, one of the other doctors went into the room with us and she was genuinely upset - it’s not just a job to them, you can tell they care.”
Debbie shared: “I wouldn’t have been able to get through this time without Dr Deane. He sat with me, put an arm around me, and was here all the time for us. He helped me personally, and was there at that time when I was crumbling and needed him most.
We wish we were giving thousands instead of hundreds, but anything we can do to support the hospice in the future, we will do it.”
It was Pat's final wish to have a memorial collection donated to support Teesside Hospice, and we would like to thank Debbie and her family for supporting us at such a difficult time 💜
