We’re all about family, friends, and championing our local community. We’re excited for Saturday 28th February when we’ll be welcoming friend of the House and neighbour, the acclaimed English winemaker Dermot Sugrue, for a dinner paired with wines and a tutored tasting. 🥂

Our intimate dinner will be hosted by Dermot, with a specially paired menu crafted by our talented Head Chef Tayler McCabe. We’ll kick off with bites and a glass of Zodo, described by Hugh Johnson as “Honestly, England’s best.”

Freshly caught and market-fresh are the order of the day, with a menu featuring scallop ceviche, squid ink tapioca crisp paired with The Trouble of Dreams, made at Storrington Priory Vineyard. Our main will be catch of the day, paired with Bonkers V2, a unique take on English still Chardonnay – a blend of vintages with a drop of Irish humour. A baked Alaska precedes local cheeses paired with Rosé Ex Machina, an intensely juicy and creamy cuvée with razor-sharp focus.

This exclusive dinner with Dermot includes an overnight stay at the House and is priced from £490, based on two people sharing. Access to the spa and facilities, and breakfast the following morning, is also included.

Our Story

The hotel today is still family-owned and has been run by the O’Brien family for three generations. It is over seventy years since our founders, Ioné & Michael O’Brien, first opened their family home as a hotel in the late 1940s.

Whilst visiting England to take part in the summer polo season at the nearby Cowdray Estate, many international polo players in the early years were encouraged to stay at Park House by the estate’s owner, the 3rd Viscount Cowdray. Michael O’Brien had himself been a keen polo player when he’d lived in India and his wife, Ioné, loved the game as well, so their close connection with the Cowdray family and Estate began soon after they arrived in West Sussex.

Since then the hotel has come a long way and under the direction of their grandson, Seamus O’Brien, it has been rebuilt and transformed into a luxury country house hotel with a wide range of sports and leisure facilities and the addition of a beautifully intimate spa.

The ‘home-from-home’ atmosphere remains today and is very much in evidence throughout, with small touches reinforcing this continuing story.
