🐾 Skye is one of our Golden Retrievers who comes to us for physiotherapy and hydrotherapy. She is almost 8 years old and has back pain and also epilepsy. It’s important to know what can trigger seizures in our epileptic patients, which is why we work closely with vets (and especially owners) to ensure we minimise the risk of seizures during or after treatment 🐾

🐾 What better way to celebrate International Dog Day than with one of our Golden Oldies! This handsome fella is Harry, and he is 12 years young ❤️ Harry joins us for underwater treadmill and laser therapy weekly to keep him strong and mobile 💪🐾

❓Did you know arthritis is not just a disease of old age? We see dogs as young as 8 months with diagnosed arthritic change 😢

✅ lots can be done to help dogs with arthritic joints live a full life! Speak to your vet if you are worried about your dogs mobility.

Signs of discomfort are subtle in our pets, and rarely involve yelping in pain! Look out for these signs……

🔴 reluctance to jump (on the sofa or in the car)
🟤 unsettled on car journeys
🔵 unsure and hesitant on slippery floors
🟠 lagging behind on walks
🟡Stopping or sitting down regularly on walks
🟢 coat changes
🔵 postural changes
🟣 becoming noise sensitive (fireworks etc)
⚫️ behaviour changes
⚪️ reluctance or refusing to go up steps/stairs
🟡 limping is a more obvious sign of pain and needs veterinary attention immediately 🐾

⚠️ Water Intoxication in Dogs – Know the Risks!

Did you know your dog can actually drink too much water?
It’s called water intoxication (hyponatremia) – and it can be deadly.

When a dog swallows excessive water, it dilutes the sodium in their blood. This imbalance can trigger:
🐾 Lethargy
🐾 Vomiting
🐾 Bloating
🐾 Loss of coordination
🚨 In severe cases – seizures, coma, even death.

Prevent it:
✅ Supervise play around water – especially swimming or fetch.
✅ Give regular breaks.
✅ Offer fresh water, but watch intake.
✅ Learn the warning signs.

If you suspect it – act fast:
🏥 Get to a vet immediately.
Treatment often includes IV fluids, seizure control & supportive care.

Keep water play fun – but safe.

🐾 When you’ve had a tough week with tricky cases, our lovely clients and patients make it all worthwhile. We received this beautiful ‘thank you’ gift (plus chocolates that I’ve eaten already 😂). We really do have the most thoughtful and kind clients, and of course cuddles from all the doggies helps too ❤️🐾

🔥☀️🐾 It’s definitely heating up outside, please keep your pets safe in the current weather! 🐾☀️🔥

💦 Hydration is key to keeping your pets cool. Goats milk or bone broth can be used to increase liquid intake if your pet isn’t keen on water. Why not freeze some in ice cube trays to have a healthy treat!

🐾 Don’t walk your dog when it’s hot! Goes without saying but still we see dogs out at the hottest part of the day 😢 The pavement can cause burns to feet as well as causing pets to overheat.

❌ Be sensible, be safe. Flat faced dogs and cats are at higher risk.

🐾 Older chap George has been coming to us for a few months for regular physiotherapy and hydrotherapy. Can you guess what he thinks of water?! 💦

🐶 George (like a lot of dogs) is very stoic. He rarely shows any signs of discomfort…. However he has quite a list of ailments!

🐾 George is a rescue. He landed on his feet with his owners and is living his best life!
🐶 George is NOT a fan of water….💦
❤️ George tolerates hydrotherapy with the promise of a macs_munchiess XL cookie 🍪 after his session!

🐾 Happy boy Dexter joins us for hydrotherapy and physiotherapy after a diagnosis of medial patella luxation (kneecap dislocation) in his right hind leg. 🐾

🐶 Dexter is a very busy boy who finds it hard to sit still! Our underwater treadmill session is a controlled exercise which helps build the correct muscle group to hold the patella in a better position. Together with good pain control, (and in Dexter’s case some extra medication to keep him calm!) we are helping him build strength in his leg and use it more effectively 💪 Well done lovely boy ❤️
