Universal Therapies. What is Reiki? Reiki (ray-key) is a technique that aids the body in releasing stress and tension by creating deep relaxation.

Because of this, Reiki promotes healing and health. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "the Wisdom of God or the Higher Power" and Ki which is means 'life force energy.' So Reiki means 'spiritually guided life force energy.' The Reiki system of healing is a technique for transmitting this subtle energy to yourself and others through the hands into the human energy system. Reiki restores energy balance and vitality by relieving the physical and emotional effects of unreleased stress. It gently and effectively opens blocked meridians, nadas and chakras, and clears the energy bodies, leaving one feeling relaxed and at peace. Reiki can:

Accelerate healing
Assist the body in cleansing toxins
Balance the flow of subtle energy by releasing blockages
Help the client contact the 'healer within.'
A treatment feels like warm, gentle sunshine which flows through you, surrounds you and comforts you. Reiki treats the person’s body, emotions, mind and spirit as a whole. Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. Reiki is powerful, yet wonderfully gentle and nurturing. During a treatment, the clients remain fully clothed. Reiki is an effective alternative, or complement to massage therapy. Reiki supports any medical, or supplemental healing methods a client may be using and is of growing interest to chiropractors, medical doctors, physiotherapists, psychotherapists, psychologists and hypnotherapists. Anyone can learn to tap into an unlimited supply of 'life force energy' to improve health and enhance the quality of life by learning Reiki, or by receiving treatments from a Reiki Practitioner or Master.

Continuing Usui Reiki information..

Usui Reiki Level 2 (often called Second Degree Reiki or Practitioner Level) is where things really deepen and expand. You move from mainly self-healing into working more professionally and energetically at a distance.

Usui Reiki Level 2.

Level 2 builds on the foundations of Usui Reiki and introduces more advanced tools:
• The Reiki symbols (usually 3 traditional symbols)
• How to send healing at a distance (past, future, or across space)
• Techniques for mental and emotional healing
• Strengthening intuition and energy sensitivity
• How to structure a full client session

The Reiki Symbols
This is a big part of Level 2.
You’ll be attuned to and taught how to use sacred symbols that:
• Amplify Reiki energy
• Focus intention
• Support emotional/mental healing
• Enable distance healing

These symbols are traditionally passed from teacher to student and practiced regularly until they become second nature.

Attunement (Second Degree)
You’ll receive another attunement, which:
• Deepens your connection to Reiki energy
• Increases the flow and strength of what you channel
• Activates your ability to use the symbols

Many people feel this attunement more strongly than Level 1—energetically or emotionally.

🌍 Distance Healing
One of the most exciting aspects:
• You’ll learn how to send Reiki to someone not physically present
• This can include people, situations, or even past experiences
• Techniques may involve visualization, intention, or surrogate methods
This opens up your practice beyond hands-on work.
Practice & Confidence
You’ll practice:
• Using the symbols in treatments
• Giving full Reiki sessions
• Distance healing techniques

This is where many people begin to feel ready to work with others more seriously.
Personal & Energetic Shifts
Level 2 often brings deeper inner work:
• Emotional clearing or healing may arise
• Stronger intuition or inner guidance
• Increased sensitivity to energy
• A sense of stepping into your path more fully

Working With Others
After Level 2, many people:
• Begin offering Reiki treatments professionally, insurance is required.
• Work with friends, family, or clients
• Combine Reiki with other healing modalities

Certification
You’ll receive a Level 2 certificate, which typically allows you to:
• Practice Reiki professionally (depending on your teacher/tradition)
• Offer distance healing sessions

Overall Feeling
People often leave Level 2 feeling:
• More confident
• More connected to energy
• Ready to step into a healer role

With Usui Reiki, this is this first level.

Taking a Usui Reiki Level 1 class (often called First Degree Reiki) is a gentle but powerful introduction to energy healing. Here’s what you can realistically expect—both practically and energetically:

In Level 1, the focus is mainly on self-healing and foundational skills:
• The history of Usui Reiki and teachings of Mikao Usui
• How Reiki energy works (life force energy / universal energy)
• Hand positions for self-treatment and treating others
• Grounding, protection, and energy awareness techniques
• Introduction to chakras and the energy body

Attunement (Initiation)
One of the most unique parts of the class is the attunement process:
• Your teacher opens your energy channels so you can channel Reiki
• This is usually done in a quiet, sacred setting
• Many people feel warmth, tingling, emotional release, or deep peace
• Some feel very little at the time—but notice changes later

This is what “switches on” your ability to use Reiki.

Hands-On / off Practice

You’ll spend time practicing:
• Giving Reiki to yourself
• Working on others.this is not a professional level so (often paired with classmates to get the practice in) Reiki share is a great place to start.
• Feeling and sensing energy in your hands

This builds confidence and helps you trust what you’re feeling.

Personal Shifts & Experiences

Everyone’s experience is different, but you may notice:
• Deep relaxation or emotional release
• Increased sensitivity to energy
• A sense of calm, clarity, or grounding
• Subtle shifts over the following days/weeks

There’s often a 21-day self-healing period after the class where you’re encouraged to practice daily.

Certification
At the end, you’ll usually receive:
• A Level 1 Reiki certificate
• A manual or notes to continue your practice
This allows you to practice Reiki on yourself and others (though not usually professionally yet—this comes later).

What It Doesn’t Require
• No prior experience
• No special “gift” or psychic ability
• No belief system—you can be open-minded and still benefit
Overall Feeling
Most people leave a Level 1 class feeling:
• Peaceful
• Empowered
• Curious to explore more
