We’re delighted to welcome leading Functional Medicine and Nutrition expert Gemma McGuigan to Lime Wood for a three-part workshop series supporting women through the hormonal transitions of midlife.⁠

With her science-led, deeply personal approach to women’s health, Gemma will guide us through the realities of menopause — from everyday symptoms to the longer-term shifts that are often left unspoken. ⁠

I am super proud of the incredible event we & created last night. We brought together 2 amazing minds who helped us understand the root cause to many chronic health issues today.

💠Morley Robbins a legendary voice helping us understand iron dysregulation and how a major part of the iron story has been missing in action …. Cooper! So grateful to Morley and his team coming all the way from America to educate and inspire us.

💠Professor Douglas Kell - Head of systems biology at Liverpool Uni and one of the UK’s lead Long Covid researchers. It was such a privilege and honour to hear Douglas’s research findings regarding long covid and how microclots are at the root of the problem.

One of our greatest gifts is curiosity, I have for many years not fully understood iron as it is conventionally taught and by reaching out to these 2 wonderful men, it has opened up an incredible progression in my understanding and knowledge which continually supports my clients moving forward with their health.

Progression often takes disruption of concepts, beliefs, conditioning and these 2 scientists are shining examples of those who look deeper to seek the truth.

I am loving the mighty SALAD at the moment, it helps when the ☀️ is shining - every time I say “ SALAD for dinner”, my husband rolls 🙄 his eyes but once he eats it, he always happy 💠! This one is a beauty, give it a try and feel the energy!

Directions
1: cover the bottom of the plate with finely shredded cabbage and microgreens (or cress)
2: layer on some finely sliced cucumber and radish
3: layer on some sliced cooked beetroot
4: add some sliced fig
5: slice some buffalo mozzarella and pop on top
6: scatter some pomegranate, seeds and fresh basil
7: generously drizzle with dressing (3Tbsp EVOO, juice of 1 lemon, 1 tsp of raw honey, seasalt & pepper)

✨ It might just be the first best step for calming your autoimmune symptoms.

Why?
👉 Gluten can trigger gut permeability (“leaky gut”) — a known underlying root cause mechanism in many autoimmune conditions.
👉 It may also cross-react with your immune system, keeping inflammation switched ON.

Removing gluten isn’t a trend — it’s a tool for many. With celiac there is no choice but to remove it but consider removing gluten with other autoimmune conditions!
Especially if you’re dealing with Hashimoto’s, RA, psoriasis, or any chronic immune imbalance.

It’s SALAD time 🎉🎉🎉 - the sun is shining☀️, some warmth is running through my veins finally and therefore it’s time to get creative in the salad aisle 🙌🙌🙌

This little beauty includes ✨✨✨✨
Microgreens
Red chicory
Avocado
Goats/sheeps feta
Pink grapefruit
Sardines

Dressing is simple
Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO)
Apple cider vinegar
Wholegrain mustard
Seasalt and pepper

It took me a couple of minutes to make, no stress and honestly this little plate of goodness instantly picked up my mood, even before I ate it!!!

Researchers analysed data from the DO-HEALTH trial, which examined the impact of supplements and exercise on older adults aged 70 and over in Switzerland. 

Participants were randomized into groups receiving either a placebo or a combination of:
* Omega-3 fatty acid supplements (1 gram daily) 

* Vitamin D supplements (2000 IU daily) 

* A simple home-based exercise program three times per week 

Researchers used epigenetic clocks, which measure DNA methylation patterns, to assess biological aging.

Key Findings:
⭐️Omega-3 supplementation alone slowed down biological aging by up to four months, as measured by several epigenetic clocks.
⭐️The combination of omega-3, vitamin D, and exercise had an even greater effect on slowing down biological aging
⭐️The study found that the combination of these interventions had the highest effect in lowering cancer risk and preventing frailty over three years.

I mean what is not to LOVE ❤️ here - imagine this was mandatory for every over 70 year old!!!!

✨✨✨Imagine if we had vit D and omega 3 levels optimised throughout our lives as standard health checks and stayed active at least 3 times per week … the sky is the limit!!! ⛅️⛅️⛅️
