Counselling sessions take place in the Crown Counselling room at my home in Eagle Farm South, Milton Keynes. The room is a cosy and welcoming garage conversion at the back of my garden, created to feel calm, comfortable and private.

When you arrive, you can park on the drive and ring the bell at the front of the house. I will come and meet you at the side gate and show you through to the counselling room.

The space is tucked away from the main house to help you feel safe, relaxed and able to talk openly without interruption or judgement.

I also conduct my online counselling sessions from this space, allowing me to offer the same calm, confidential and supportive environment whether we work together in person or online.

…I still lie awake sometimes replaying conversations and questioning myself.

…I’ve cancelled plans because my anxiety felt too loud that day.

…I know what it’s like to look completely fine and feel anything but.

…I still have to catch myself when my mind starts spiralling.

…I don’t always feel calm, I just know how to support myself when I’m not.

Because this is the part people don’t talk about enough…

Understanding anxiety doesn’t mean you NEVER FEEL IT

It means you respond to it differently.

It means you don’t panic about the anxiety on top of everything else!

It means you trust yourself to handle what shows up.

That’s the shift.

And it’s something you can learn, with the right support.

On the outside, it can look like you’re just getting on with things.

But inside, you might be checking how you feel, scanning for symptoms, wondering if anxiety is going to hit, or planning how you’ll cope if it does.

This is the part of anxiety so many people don’t see.

And it makes sense that you feel tired.

Reassurance feels good in the moment… but it quietly keeps anxiety stuck šŸ”„

Every time you ask ā€œam I okay?ā€ and get a comforting answer, your brain learns:
šŸ‘‰ ā€œI can’t handle this on my own.ā€
šŸ‘‰ ā€œI need someone else to feel safe.ā€

So the relief fades… and the urge to check comes back stronger.

That’s the reassurance cycle:
Anxiety → seek reassurance → short-term relief → more anxiety → repeat.

Real change happens when you gently resist the urge to check, and show your brain:
ā€œI can sit with this. I can cope.ā€

It’s uncomfortable at first, but that’s where confidence grows šŸ’›

If you’re stuck in this cycle, you’re not broken, it’s just a pattern your brain has learned. And patterns can be unlearned.

Christmas can feel overwhelming when you’re living with anxiety. Reducing expectations, setting boundaries, accepting your feelings and practising self-compassion can make the season feel lighter. You’re allowed to take things at your own pace, and you can still have a meaningful Christmas, even with anxiety alongside you. šŸŽ„

Work on trusting yourself!

So often worst case scenario thoughts are not about the actual event you’re fearing, but about the feeling that you may not survive or cope if you were faced with it.

For example, ā€˜what if I lose my job?’ Yes the thought of losing your job is scary but even more scary is the thoughts of - what if I fall apart what if I can’t find anything else? What if I end up unemployed forever?

if you have trust in yourself to overcome whatever life throws at you there’s no need to fear it! BUT in order to trust ourselves we need to work with evidence. Where is the evidence that you have overcome difficult things in the past? or where you found solutions to things that seemed impossible? If you look hard enough, you will find plenty.

Try using this next time you’re thinking of those worst case scenarios - you are way more resilient than you think!

Just a friendly reminder.

I know it sucks, I know it feels scary, but remember it’s an emotion, it’s your brain trying to keep you safe and it can’t hurt you.

A beautiful testimony of healing - finding self belief, confidence and self-compassion. It was such a privilege to walk alongside this client on their journey and see the most amazing outcome for them! It took real courage and vulnerability to do this work and I’m an honoured that they felt safe enough to go there with me. 🄰
