International Women’s Day is about recognising the strength, resilience and ambition of women everywhere.
But supporting women in the workplace should go far beyond simply hiring them.
I see so many companies proudly say they are women run or women owned, yet the policies behind the scenes often do not reflect real support for women.
Supporting women at work means creating environments where women can genuinely thrive. Flexible working, understanding that life and health do not always fit neatly into a traditional nine to five, meaningful parental policies, enhanced maternity support and even equal paternity rights all play a role.
Real support for women in the workplace is not about branding. It is about culture.
To the women building businesses, leading teams, raising families, pursuing ambitions and supporting others along the way, today is a reminder of just how much strength there is in that.
Happy International Women’s Day.
What changes do you think workplaces still need to make to properly support women?
