Can you sit on your heels ?

🌼Vajrasana also known as Thunderbolt pose, a beginner friendly yoga pose offers numerous benefits.

🌼It’s a posture where you kneel and sit on your heels . Spine is straight and shoulders should be relaxed.

🌼A great pose to practice after your meals as it stimulates digestive organs aiding better digestion and reduces symptoms like constipation and bloating.

🌼It also strengthens pelvic muscles.

🌼Calms the mind and reduces stress , anxiety and mental fatigue.

🌼Improves posture.

🌼Do not practice this until your ankles and knees are sufficiently flexible .

🌹No perfect body is needed to start practicing yoga. Yoga focuses on connecting body, mind and spirit .

🌹Focus on your breath and move your body.

🌹Yoga is the experience of feeling connected, feeling peaceful and feeling strong and calm.

🌹After practicing yoga for a while your life may change in ways you don’t expect.

🌹You will gradually learn to breathe more deeply , direct your breath into tight areas of your body and improve your flexibility.

🌹Yoga practice doesn’t require you to understand advanced concepts, just breathe and move your body .

Being flexible is not a requirement to start yoga . It’s actually a result that you will experience over time .

🧘‍♀️ Can I practice yoga if I am over weight?

Yes, you can start practicing yoga at any weight, size or flexibility level . Modification to the poses and use of props will help anyone feel comfortable.

🧘‍♀️ How often should I practice yoga ?

If you can , try to practice daily. But don’t let unrealistic expectations stop you from doing shorter practices . Practising it once a week is better than doing nothing at all.
Do what you can, when you can.

🧘‍♀️ When is the best time to do yoga ?

Do it whenever you can fit yoga in . Some of us are early birds while other are night owls . So find out what works for your schedule.

🧘‍♀️ Can I eat before yoga ?

It’s better to have less or empty stomach during a yoga session. So leave at least two , three hours between a main meal and yoga practice.

🧘‍♀️ How is yoga different from other kind of fitness practices?

Yoga is unique because we connect the movement of body and the fluctuations of the mind to the rhythm of our breath.

Mindful Yoga
Bring more mindfulness onto the mat.

In mindful yoga , the main focus is on mind- body awareness. Cultivating mindfulness using physical poses as the vehicle is essential.

Observe your mind and feelings while practicing a yoga pose. Be curious and open to what you are noticing without judgement or attachment. Intentionally release the focus of attention when shifting to next pose. If you notice a deviation from focus, then bring your mind back to breath and the body.

Tune into your breath, pay attention to bodily sensations and learn to accept reality as it it in that moment.

Practice yoga and have a joyful, blissful and fulfilling experience.
