I recently received these kind words after helping a family celebrate their mums life.
I offered to print out the service for them a few days later, which they were very grateful for, as one of the family said its very difficult to take all that's being said in at the time, so to be able to read back again at your own time is comforting.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of delivering a Pagan Handfasting Wedding Ceremony for my friend..I learnt so much about our Celtic Ancestors beliefs on marriage..and how to tie an Eternity knot..it was extra meaningful as it was held at the graveside of my same friends mum, her funeral being my first ever delivered last year..so to be asked to deliver this ceremony also was a true honour😌

A colleague from work asked me for some advice as a family member had recently died.
Although I wasn't the Celebrant for the actual service I was happy to help.
The family were finding it hard to think of ideas, songs and readings that would represent their Aunts character, loves and wishes.
Aunty had grown up and lived in London all her life. She had built up her own buisness, was a trendy, sassy character who was loved, and loved everyone.

I suggested songs such as:
Hometown Glory by Adele (entry music)

Water Loo Sunset (to be played after Eulogy reading)

Respect by Aretha Franklin
or
I'm every woman by Chaka Khan
Or
Down Town by Petula Clark. (On departure)

These were only suggestions, but could help the family in the right direction.

To even begin the process of arranging a Funeral Service for a loved one can be paralysing, I was very happy to support them in this first step.

CHILDREN IN HEAVEN

I spoke to a robin
who visits my tree
I told him I thought
you were waiting for me
he shook his soft head
and much disagreed
‘the children in heaven
are happy, you see.

They know of no fear
they feel no regret
they spend the days wrapped
in a blissful forget.
they’re loved very much
by your ancestors all
and they run around playing
with sticks and a ball.

And the only time
children in heaven seem sad
is when they look down
on the life that they had
and the people they love
feel no longer alive
even though it’s not their time
to travel this side.

So chin up, said Robin
let no more tears fall
your child is quite free
with his sticks and his ball
and he's in no great rush
to see you just yet
you’ve life still to live
and more memories to get

And time may pass slowly
here on the ground
but in heaven it’s moments
and will quickly come round
so let the world turn
and let everything be
the children in heaven
are happy, you see’.

I have recently bought this thought provoking little book..
It talks about what your wishes, ideas and requests may be at the time of your funeral, the time to celebrate your life.
It makes a difficult subject easier with the way it's presented and the questions it encourages you to think through..
A £12.50 well spent.
I have bought one for myself, and a 2nd one to take with me when meeting my families at their time of need.
