Trauma is often misunderstood, and that misunderstanding can keep people silent, stuck, or feeling like they “don’t deserve” support.

But trauma isn’t about labels or severity.
It’s about the lasting impact something had on you, emotionally, physically, and neurologically.

Whether your trauma came from something dramatic or something dismissed, your pain is real. And healing is possible.

💬 Have you ever been told “that’s not trauma”? Let’s talk about it below.

Not everything needs to be solved in one breath.

Sometimes, healing means knowing what to feel now and what to gently return to later.

Compartmentalising gets a bad reputation sometimes, but it’s a powerful coping strategy when used with care. It’s not about shutting off. It’s about staying steady, one step, one room at a time.

🌊 You are the captain. You get to decide which doors to open, and when.

💬 Have you ever noticed yourself compartmentalising in a helpful way?

Anxiety has a loud voice.
But so does compassion.

The way we speak to ourselves, especially in moments of stress, matters.

Your inner dialogue can increase anxiety… or help ground you in the moment.

This doesn’t mean forcing fake positivity or saying things you don’t believe. It’s about choosing words that feel supportive, kind, and calming.

💬 What’s one gentle phrase you turn to when anxiety flares up?

Share it in the comments. Your words might help someone else today! 💚

As we settle into 2025, take a moment to reflect on how far you’ve already come. Perhaps you’re navigating the art of setting boundaries, seeking support when it feels overwhelming, or finding strength in simply making it through the tougher days.

Every step, no matter how small, shapes your journey. Like seeds growing beneath the frost, your progress might not always be visible—but it’s there, steady and real.

Pause, breathe, and honour your resilience. Wherever you are right now, trust that you’re cultivating something extraordinary 🌱💛✨

Avoidance is a common coping mechanism for anxiety that may offer temporary relief but ultimately perpetuates and intensifies the cycle of fear over time. Breaking this cycle often involves gradual and supportive exposure to feared situations, a process effectively guided through therapies like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Exposure Therapy.

Fear is like an alarm bell ringing in response to an actual fire, while anxiety is the lingering worry about the possibility of a fire, even when there’s no smoke.

Recognising whether you’re feeling fear or anxiety can help you take the right steps to manage it. Fear often requires immediate action to ensure safety, whereas anxiety may benefit from strategies like grounding, mindfulness, or therapy to address the underlying concerns.

Anxiety is a natural response that occurs when we feel threatened, stressed, or scared. It’s part of our body’s survival mechanism, often referred to as the "fight or flight" response. This reaction dates back to our early ancestors and helped them respond quickly to danger. While we don't face the same physical threats today, our bodies still react in similar ways when we feel anxious.

Anxiety can be triggered by social pressures, work stress, or past traumatic experiences, causing our fight-or-flight system to activate even in relatively non-threatening situations.

When we’re low or upset, we often fall into patterns of thinking and responding which can worsen how we feel. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) works to help us notice and change problematic thinking styles or behaviour patterns so we can feel better.

As a therapist, I've found CBT to be a highly effective and empowering approach for my clients.
