1926 Census of Ireland

There was no 1921 Census of Ireland. But a Census was held in 1926 in both the Irish Free State and Northern Ireland.

According to the Irish National Archives website, the 1926 Census for the Irish Free State will be released in January 2027. This is due to the 100-year rule. Currently, the most recent census available is the 1911 Census.

Regrettably, the 1926 Census records for Northern Ireland have been destroyed or lost.

1921 Census of Scotland

The National Records of Scotland and ScotlandsPeople websites both still say: “We will release indexed images of the 1921 Scottish Census on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk and in the ScotlandsPeople Centre in the latter half of 2022. We’ll keep you updated on progress via our digital channels.”

ScotlandsPeople announced back in June that there would be a considerable delay in the release of the 1921 Scotland census. They had originally planned to have its 1921 census released in the summer of 2021

1921 Census of England & Wales – Update

The 1921 Census of England & Wales will be available in FindMyPast from 6th January 2022.
