The Devil

After all of last week’s indulgences maybe today you should really start getting back to a bit of normality.
I know it’s Sunday and it’s all not really over yet, but today’s card tells us that nothing good can come of giving into temptation.

The Devil is an interesting figure, purely appealing to our ego, while actually feeding our lower instincts.
Basically he is the voice that goes “Just do it, it’ll be fine, nobody needs to know.”
Yes… but YOU know!

Ask yourself this today do you want outside influences to control you or would you rather be in charge of your actions?
Or let’s put it even simpler….
Is it really so difficult not to empty the box of chocolates, drink all that wine, eat all leftover treats in one go?
Come on… you can do better than that!

I’m just being flippant I know, but in all honesty. Don’t be tempted today! It won’t do you any good and you will regret it.

I have an offer for you all!

To get you prepared for the year to come, all my readings will be on offer for the entirety of January.
Readings start at £10 for a 3 card email reading, the usual one hour sessions are now £30 and the in person in depth "year ahead" reading is now reduced to only £35.
Readings are via email, video calls or at our home in Bletchley.

The days between Christmas and New Year have always been weird, the 12 days of Christmas can be an extension of that. Days just melt into each other, there are sweets for breakfast and more cheese than should be allowed. Time has no meaning and we shift from sofa to bed with maybe a quick walk around the block thrown in, to not disappear into the Nirvana of weirdness completely.
What if I told you that this is nothing new, that there is more to this entire weird period of time, that even our ancestors felt the way you feel right now!

Today you might find yourself in the terrible situation of turning your back on something.
Maybe whatever is in front of you is just that bit too much to ask or it would betray your principles.

Don’t feel like you are letting people down or that you are defeated in some way, that’s not at all the case.
This is very much an act of self preservation.
You’ve done what you can, if it’s not working or appreciated, leave it be!

Don’t waste your energy on things that you cannot change today.
Move on, let others squabble or deal with it. It’s not always up to you to save the world… not even to save the day!

Boxing Day

Seven of Good Cheer (trad. Cups)

There’s a great sense of confusion in this card and often the feeling of overwhelm.
Too many things are happening around you, too many choices to make, too many opportunities, invites, open doors and requests.
It’s all a bit much, isn’t it?

As this is also a time when the pressure of being everything to everyone, of presenting the perfect Christmas experience gets so many people down, maybe you need to step back.
Do what you can, but not more!

You won’t offend people by declining an offer or invitation when you simply haven’t got the time and energy.
Focus on one thing, maybe two in as many days, but don’t forget that if you are trying to do it all it will likely end in disaster.
Remember:
You simply can’t make all wishes come true!

Christmas Eve

Knight of Presents (trad. Pentacles)

I find it fascinating how this last week has been dominated by cups (emotions) and pentacles (material world). Quite fitting for all the gatherings and gift giving that happening right now.
Today we have the Knight of Pentacles and the energy here is that of solid routine, paying attention to details and being diligent.

If you, like lots of others today, are planning for a family thing or get together tomorrow, then here’s the advice to check over your lists, stick to the plan and everything will work out fine!

On the other hand this can also be about one more day of work before a holiday.
So see it through today, don’t cut corners or leave things half done. If you know the job has been finished properly you can enjoy time off much better.

But whatever you do make room for joy!
I wish you a wonderful time 🥰🎄🎁

Pictured here is a wassail bowl filled with a warm beverage to warm your body and heart. Often also called a punch bowl.
I love they chose this as a symbol for this card, it’s like a potion that brings people closer together.

You might be on the verge of something that will fill your heart with joy and love. This could be a new chapter in life, but as a card of the day it has the energy to warm your heart today.
Let yourself have that moment today. Just enjoy that feeling of your heart overflowing with love for a while.

If we stay with the warming potion there, sword of warning. It can also intoxicate! A little bit will make you merry and warm, too much and it all goes a bit overboard.
Let your heart be full, but don’t get swept away by emotions.

Get ready for a new start, make room for new adventures and experiences and open your heart to fresh beginnings.

The Fool is the ultimate clean slate, the impressionable child and the carefree wanderer.
When he appears you are called upon to see the world with fresh eyes and try and achieve the childlike wonder we all used to once have.

Remember this time of year when you were five? When the lights and trees everywhere were magic and not just cynical commercialism?
Try to conjure that feeling up, just for today!
