This week I met this beautiful boy, Harry and was kindly granted permission by his equally beautiful Mum India to share this video. Of her pacing his bottle feed of EBM.

The video demonstrates perfectly what I always say, that this method is to illicit the reflex to suckle and pause like a baby would at the breast.

The end of the teat is full of milk but only half filling the ‘bulb’ of the teat.

After roughly 3-6 suckles and swallows I suggested India drop the bottle to stop the flow.

If Harry was still suckling indicating he wanted more the bottle was lifted again.

He only needed his Mum helping him a couple of times before the reflex to pause was triggered.

Not only beautiful but clever 🥰

If you need support with infant feeding in all its forms at whatever stage in the journey you I have an appointment for you (IG Link in Bio)

Whose stupid idea was it to not wear waterproof mascara today. 😭

I have been overwhelmed today from the outpouring of love and kind words I have received from some awesome women at the very last Booin’ Cafe.

My big cheesy “Moonface” smile was for one of the gifts from a group of Mums who have made friends at the group.

The had a keyring made for me with the names of all their babies I have supported.

I will share my other gifts next week when I am home from my well needed little break in Ireland.

I want to send a huge heartfelt thank you to all the people who have trusted me with theirs and their babies health and well being.

Keep in touch and consultations can be booked via the usual links.

I hope you all enjoy your Mothers Day Bunches of Daffodils 🌼 🥰😇

Hello

I’ve just completed Tommy’s 8,000 Steps a Day in March Challenge. I actually managed 294,616 steps!

It wasn’t easy but it was worth it to support Tommy’s aim of making pregnancy and birth safe - for everyone. No one should have to go through the heartbreak of baby loss.

It’s not too late to make a donation and help fund research to save babies’ lives.

If you could chip in just £2, £5 or £10 that would make a difference.

Simply click my link and please add a donation of whatever you can.

Thank you so much. Your support means so much to me and Tommy’s.

It’s getting harder and harder as I approach the last Boobin’ Cafe session and the end of an era.

Just a heads up the Chapel is tiny so that is why I have extended the session so between 9 & 10 am is a drop in to say Hi and Bye and then the usual breastfeeding support 10-11:30am.

Hey all

I have had to cancel today’s session at short notice which I hate doing - so sorry 😞

I also have a less than usual number sessions next month.

Next session Feb 12th and then 26th.

Good news is my lovely IBCLC mentee will be shadowing me on 12th so 2 for 1 🥳

I don’t know if you are aware but I run two businesses, my lactation consultancy and . I try not to let MumPod interfere with my work with you guys and your gorgeous babies but sometimes it’s a hard balance.

I know I don’t appear on social media much and should share more tips and knowledge but ‘showing up’ in person is where I make greater impact atm.

I feel privileged to be welcomed into your worlds and trusted with you and your babies care.

Thank you 🙏

30 years ago on 5 mins I became a mum as I delivered this beautiful girl .bolt

I was so lucky to have been cared for by a pilot Midwifery Team. I knew all six midwives who could care for me and it was true continuity of care.

Little did I know a 15 years later I would be a Team Midwife in a similar pilot.

This is a great way to offer Midwifery care but it is expensive and unsustainable if there isn’t enough staff investment and most burn out and these teams are scrapped.

Today I attended the meeting and I realised just how home birth, continuity of care and many more initiatives to offer the best care are being scrapped.

I was so blessed to have this Team Midwifery care to help me bring this precious baby girl into the the world in 1995 in 21st January at 21:34 and I know this is unlikely to happen again in the NHS, but I try to make a difference to families in my capacity as an IBCLC.

Wishing all you first time Mums all the best care for you and your baby 🥰

How do you spend your day?

I feel so privileged to be a tiny part of a families feeding journey. Today was an example of all the ages and stages of feeding.

Today was a celebration of the year and we were discussing the joy of a room of babies and the oxytocin and endorphins that I get a rush of every week. 🤗😍🥰🎄🙏👼

Thanks for permission to share these gorgeous photos of this gorgeous family who I have supported from the early days.

… give up breastfeeding before returning to work after maternity leave.

WHY?
No support offered by employee.
Nowhere to pump in comfort.
Nowhere private to pump.
Don't feel they can talk about breastfeeding to their boss.

Many public sector jobs are held by women, particularly jn areas where there is a desperate shortage

Supporting the longevity is overlooked in research and policy. Everything I do as an IBCLC, Innovator and Business Owner of is to change this.

If you are in this position or your employer "could do better" comment below. Let's make change together for our future.

Side Lying is a great breastfeeding position for:

🥱 those sleepy dream feeds
😖 taking the pressure off those stitches
😴 those endless night feeds

And look at the protective nature of this position.
🛏️ The way you place your arm to rest your head on your hand protects baby from shuffling up the bed near your pillow.
🛏️ The way you lift your knees protects baby from shuffling down the bed near any bed covers.
😴 If you nod off you will naturally roll away.

And the magic connection between you and your breastfed baby (the breastfeeding dyad) means you will wake to each other when you are close.
